hate to sound terrible... but i would have a hard time dating guy without a car... if we go anywhere, i dont want to be stuck driving all the time... gas is to expensive for it to all fall on me... and, sorry, but i'm not biking 10 miles to get to the date location... I know it doesnt seem fair, and its not what you wanted to hear... sorry flowerforyou

I agree about one having a car. I own two bicycles myself but I sure as heck wouldn't ask a date to have to do all the driving as it should be shared by both of us.

whhaaa? no way. its never to cold for a bike ! i was born and raised in eau claire, wisconsin. riding when everything was frozen and its 20 below zero. all the cars are stuck in snow.

best time to ride~

that is snow country - I love outdoors in winter but NOT on a bike - no thanks

for me it would not be safe - my breathing - I even had to find a place to run indoors when I was training for 5-10Ks year around

Yeah, same here about the snow country. Not only is it too chilly to bike at -40 but also the snow gets real deep. A lot of cyclists get injured or even killed because of the bad weather; visibility, and cars sliding on the ice.

well I think the OP will be fine - he's from kissimmee in florida....I see kids out on their mtn bikes or bmxers in the winter sometimes just tooling around on side roads or driveways- but for real riding I agree - no way - cars on the road are also too unpredictable in that weather - as well poor road conditions

Your not owing a car wouldn't bother me. It would be more of an issue if you couldn't drive.

Invite them to go for a bike ride to see the sites. I wouldnt rack up further debt to impress someone. If you do wish to impress someone, plan ahead and rent a Limo or rent a nice car to take them out in.

Neither would I. As long as you were able to get hold of a car when needed, that would be good enough.

I wouldn't have a problem if my date suggested a bicycle ride - it would make for an unusual first date and it would give me an opportunity to dust the cobwebs off my bicycle

Well, I totally understand your situation. I don't own a car, nor do I have my license. People don't hold it against me. I also live in a city with excellent public transport. I also don't freeload on my friends. If it's convenient to grab a ride home with someone, great. If not, I grab a taxi. I wouldn't think it odd to meet at the location where the date was happening, but then I grew up having friends from all over the city, so that was the norm for us. There are creative ways to work around the 'no car' situation, if you want. Someone will appreciate your point of view!

In regards to your career...you say you make $40,000 a yr but your profile says you are a cook? Are you a professional chef? But if you've been in the military you really haven't had time to build a career...so the ladies should consider that...

my "job" as a cook is more of a hobby then my income. its less then 10 hours a week. as for my actual career i am self employed. i buy broken and damaged items such as vintage bicycles, appliances, furniture, guns and anything of the sort and restore them for resale. its a very suitable business with minimal overhead and next to nothing as far as spill goes.

I guess my question is, should i buy a car specifically for dates and let the thing rot in my driveway for a years? seems kinda silly to me. but anyway, let me know what you think, it would be appreciated!!

Be who you are. Do not change for anyone. If you dont want a car, then do not spend the money to buy one. You may have to pay for some taxi cab rides tho...

I see you as a very independent thinking and intelligent person who will one day be very rich. Any girl who can't see that, doesn't deserve you.

I predict you will soon have a car and you will well be able to afford it. It will be when you find you need one, not just to date girls.

You can always get a taxi or rent a limo for a special date.

Son, (OP) you are just dating the wrong type of girls. Do not buy a car just so you can impress someone. There is insurance, upkeep, depreciation to consider. Parking fees if you live and work in the city.
