Humility is the ability to place oneself into a mental state that exhibit low self esteem or servitide

This is somewhat true if you see that 'exhibit' is a different word than 'possess'.

"kic'...I used "exhibit" because humility deals with suffering...and one might exhibit signs of suffering doing an episode of humility

and you are right that humility can seem like a brief possession as one comes to an unpleasant realization about oneself, but generally it stated that an individual has to first "suffer humility"

We all have the right to "view" life differently, understand words differently. Have to make things work our own way. What is right/works for one, might not work for another. Need to remember to respect & accept each other. Even if it means disagreeing & letting things pass us by.

You used 'exhibit' to describe how one shows low self esteem, and servitude. I suggest to you that one may 'exhibit' this appearance without actually possessing low self esteem and servitude...as in a behaviour, and not a feeling. I hope that makes sense. I never said 'humility' was a possession, but sure, that makes sense too.

I used "exhibit" because an indivivdual can not make a claim of humility because it would equate to bragging...only a person or persons that witness the individual exhibiting signs of possible humility can made the claim

then again humility does not have to have anything to do with servitude or low self esteem

in fact usually it does not

funches, I have a feeling that by examining the word 'humility' you have taken its root and extended thought to another word: 'humiliation'. They have the same root, but these words have different meanings.

"kic"...you're right again...humility is a form of self-humilitation ...it's the realization of something negative about oneself...why else would one seek to change their behavior or create lists to follow

Humiliation and self humiliation are related (to each other)...However , neither is related to humility...You are confusing the two....The thread is about humility, not about humiliation of others or self .....If the thread was titled humiliation, much, if not all, you say would be correct....flowerforyou

I have always tried to carry my self in accordance to how I do see me in life,,and through others eyes, to be..
So I walk and live and act,,very humble.
Yet I also do these,,with a pride within me,,that reflects all of THAT..For who I am as a person in this life..
I am no better than YOU,,yet, YOUR no better than ME.
I LIVE to project THIS in everything I do..
Call me and my way of thinking wrong,,if you will?
But for me,,its the Human way to review the very small plain that we have here to travel..Freely, openly, unprotected,,and with a promise not to falsely judge others w/o living as they have or do..

One can live,,,to humble,,and never see themselves as worth much?
One can live with tomuch pride, and never understand that feeling inside of being defeated?
One can never know the art of being humble, if their minds stay closed to their greatness?

actually it's original meaning was Being Down To Earth, until Religion subverted it's meaning, like it did with many other Terms!
