CNSNews.com) – (Updated) The Senate on Thursday evening voted 93-7 to approve a defense authorization bill that includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, it also repeals the military ban on sex with animals--or bestiality.

On Nov. 15, the Senate Armed Services Committee had unanimously approved S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.

It states: "(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said the effort to remove sodomy from military law stems from liberal Senate Democrats' and President Obama’s support for removing the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.

I personally think that the military should make their own rules. Congress and the President can send them to die, at the very least they should get to make up their own rules of conduct.

so often lately i here conserbatives actually fighting the idea of less government in our lives. goes to illustrate why i'm a member of no party. here we have government actually repealing laws about how we conduct ourselves in the bedroom and it's the more conservative, less government crowd that's complaining.

Many conservatives and most Democrats want to inject more Government into our lives. Libertarians are the only one who stand up for freedom for everyone.

And scientific studies have linked homophobia with homosexual arousal.

OddestBell,

Psychology Today is a rag with which I wouldn't even light a fire.

They posted an incredibly racist blog of which I quote directly quote: "It is very interesting to note that, even though black women are objectively less physically attractive than other women, black women…subjectively consider themselves to be far more physically attractive than others."

So I wouldn't use anything they published to support a position I was taking.

As for the study in question, below is a criticism in the form of an alternate explanation for the arousal.

Putting Freud to the Test
Another explanation of these data is found in Barlow, Sakheim, and Beck's ( 1983) theory of the role of anxiety and attention in sexual responding. It is possible that viewing homosexual stimuli causes negative emotions such as anxiety in homophobic men but not in nonhomophobic men. Because anxiety has been shown to enhance arousal and erection, this theory would predict increases in erection in homophobic men. Furthermore, it would indicate that a response to homosexual stimuli is a function of the threat condition rather than sexual arousal per se.

@Spidercmb

They also performed a study on the roots of the "fear" factor and found that the fear and anxiety and found that it was generally caused by insecurities of how they viewed themselves and also their discomfort due to religious beliefs.

Either way, it's still extremely unattractive to lack so much self control that instead of constructing a decent argument, they resort to spewing random derogatory comments instead.

Personal viewpoint on the last part.

I thought republicans were the gay ones. We had toe tapping republican senator Larry Craig in a mens bathroom and recently a football coach and all those catholick priests, I cant imagine those folks as liberals.

Why are you trying to hang some anti sodemy law around a liberals neck?

Personaly I am against male to male sodemy thats why I never practiced that when I was in the military, you see we liberals think people can think for themselves and decide what is best for them and we do not need some crazy conservative law to tell us what we can and cant do.

Just like abortion if your against it dont get one.

That's true, and the military does have its own system of rules, punishment, and arbitration. It's called the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Congress has little to no say over that.

Real conservatives don't want more government.

There is a distinction between republicans and conservatives.

The point of the matter is simple. Anytime someone proposes cuts to any of the liberals sacred cows (entitlements) they start in with the republicans hate old people, republicans hate the poor, republicans hate minorities..

You can go back to 2003 when the Bush administration wanted to reform and regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The liberals were livid. Barney Frank and black members of congress gave speeches talking about how the republicans wanted to keep minorities and poor people from owning homes..

Well we see how that worked out and now you have Oblahma continuously spewing his "republicans caused this crisis".

Bush republicans certainly had alot to do with this economic calamity. But for the democrats to sit there and revise their actions and complicity in this mess is just laughable..

quite true as illustrated by a predominantly democrat voting base in california where prop eight was passed to ban gay marriage by both religious concervative democrats and republicans. if big government intervention in marriage is not a case of more government in our lives i can't imagine what is.

That's true, many Conservatives have their own goals in Government interference in our lives. Primarily in the choices individuals make in their own homes. Be it their opposition to gay marriage or their support for the ban on certain drugs. The War On Drugs has cost the American Taxpayers over one trillion dollars and thousands of lives in both the USA and other countries. Look at Mexico where the corruption and murder, fueled by the drug cartels, makes international headlines almost daily. Instead of $500 / second to fight a drug war, the USA could be making $500-$1000 / second if the drugs were legalized and taxed.

'gay' has been around LONG before Obama.

I'm all about personal freedom, 'do what you will, harm no one'

however, animals don't have a voice to say no.

I disagree, we don't need the idiots in PETA involved. If your partner cannot consent, then the act should be illegal. Which means that bestiality should be 100% illegal in the USA and the "legal" age for sex with consenting people should be 18. We won't let someone drink until they turn 21, but in some states you can legally start having sex at 16.
