No, skeptical means a position of doubt, agnostic is neutrality.

I really only need this part.

Doubt, means not accepting. It does not mean you have accepted that it cannot be true, or that it can be true, but that you have not accepted it is true.

Oh, so you have your own definition for words other than "skeptical" also? Well, I see your point. I think that the dictionary definition of "to be uncertain about; consider questionable or unlikely; hesitate to believe." would mean that you were clearly wrong and you couldn't handle that, so it makes sense that you have concocted your own definitions.

Neutrality is the position of doubt.

No, it's the position of open mindedness, with the openness to say "I just don't know and any of these possibilities could be the correct answer".

Spider, you are loosing badly.

I can see why you think that, since you are writing your own dictionary and all, but...laugh

Get out of here with that crap.

This has been an amazing thread. I will be copying this for future reference. I hope you dont mind! ; - )

Not at all, maybe in the future you'll actually be able to understand what I've posted and realize how wrong you've been, but I'm not holding out hope.

I have not been wrong a single bit. At least not that anyone has demonstrated.

Scientific skepticism
Main article: Scientific skepticism

A scientific (or empirical) skeptic is one who questions beliefs on the basis of scientific understanding. Most scientists, being scientific skeptics, test the reliability of certain kinds of claims by subjecting them to a systematic investigation using some form of the scientific method.[8] As a result, a number of claims are considered "pseudoscience" if they are found to improperly apply or ignore the fundamental aspects of the scientific method. Scientific skepticism does not address all religious beliefs, since most religious beliefs are, by definition, outside perceivable observation and thus outside the realm of systematic, empirical falsifiability/testability.
I am agnostic, yet the fact I do not hold a belief in god makes me atheist as well. The definitions of those words are well known to me.

Spider, I hope one day you can have an honest discussion about your beliefs.

Words have many meanings, trying to argue from a specific definition that does not equal the meaning being presented is dishonest. Most people when confronted with a misunderstanding of meaning wouldn't throw a hissy fit, they would instead pick up with the intended meaning.

Also, if you read back to previous pages of this thread you will see I went to great lengths to explain my position, which if read with a desire to understand shows the meanings very clearly. I find it very hard to believe that after all of this you did not understand my meaning.

I get the feeling you dont really care to engage honestly with this, instead you just seek to "win" points and feel justified in your beliefs.

Yeah, remember when I said "Spider, you are loosing badly. "?
But you are, you are trying to argue definitions. That is an intellectual dead end.

I have been trying to work with you for pages. You just want to fight over petty points that have no real bearing on the topic.

Its pathetic.

Defining terms is an incredibly important part of having a discussion, why do you think it's "an intellectual dead end"?

The meaning of the terms used is in no way petty.

Its pathetic.

No this works just fine, however it doesnt in any way invalidate anything I have said.

Uncertain: without a position.
Questionable: needs to be questioned
Unlikely: does not match up with known quantities
hesitate: wait (until you have better evidence)
Believe: Well you know what this means.

These are all good reasons to be skeptical.

I really dont see how any of these synonyms have done anything to further your argument against skepticism, nor have they shown that skepticism is very different from agnosticism.

Man if this is the best logic you have Id hate to see your software.

..and you've reached the same result as so many before you Bushido.

He has no point.
Though, always believes he does.

He just results to childish antics.
Calls others 'immature'.

Meanwhile, fills his photobucket account.
With thousands upon thousands of gifs, images, and other tedious crap that he considers 'awesome'.

One day..
I assure you.
He will realize.
No one's laughing with him..
..only at him.

Then a rainbow will appear.
And a beautiful butterfly will emerge.
A leprechaun will slide down said rainbow.
And deliver happiness and marshmallows to all the children.

-fin.

Seriously.

Damn, you just don't get it, do ya?

You said it, not me. I just agreed.

Every derogatory remark you make will be shown to you how it applies to yourself rather than others.

So load me up with some more ammo, you obviously love the attention...
