Pretending to be a clock! There..I said it before anyone else did laugh. It’s better than ‘deep as an ocean’ which was the initial title I had for this thread

Anyway back to the less interesting bit...

As I go down my own road of self awareness, I’m finding that I’m done with superficial relationships. Obviously in work settings, I can be as pretentious as the next person but in my personal life.. my own little bubble.. I want and value people that take the time to get to know the real me. The person behind the big smile, GSOH, outgoing personality and so so good looks.

I want people in my life that will always be honest with me but without the cruel to be kind mentality that some people associate with honesty. I want people in my life that will give me advice based on their knowledge of me and not what they would do, sounds good or politically correct. I want people that will challenge me and take me out for drinks when I’m pissed off and leave me alone for long enough that I take real pleasure when I’m back in their company.

Having and maintaining these relationships is what makes me tick and keeps me sane.

What does it for you?

I like people that once I say my name is Terri, they stop with the angel eyes, baby, sweetie, etc. crappola and call me Terri or remember what I said in my profile and don't ask me to recap my entire profile because they are too lazy to read it.

What makes me tick? The love of my Woman, my dogs and my family. It is the reason I get up in the morning. It is the reason I work my butt off. It is the reason I go to bed with a smile on my face. Love makes this life worth living.

Very true. That's why I'm protective of and cherish the relationships that I have.

Writing, creating, that's what makes me tick.

I've pretty much given up on people entirely, so the goal now is to generate all of my "ticking" internally.

Apparently spending too much time on Mingle is what makes me tick.

Very nice, well thought out.

Agreed, political correctness does not do anybody any good...call it like it is, no sugar coating or spinning allowed!

That was my starting point..learning how to generate my ticking internally because I had given up on people. I was unhappy on my own (not implying that you are). Unhappy with people/in a crowd...had no clue who I was and thought I needed other people to validate my existence..

Awww …thanking ye kindly Mr Cape. Direct flirting works as well pitchfork

Joking aside, I am a 'tell it like it is' type of person but I'm also aware of other people's sensitivities e.g. I'm careful of telling it how it is with people who can't emotionally defend themselves.

Am having a good day. I dare you to make sense of the WYSIWYG thread that I posted last week laugh

Well, I've been completely alone for about 3 years now. You get used to it. Sure, there are times when it would be nice to have someone around, but then I think back to my past relationships and how horrible they all turned out to be, and I realize I'm better off by myself. Women don't want a guy who doesn't follow "the plan."

My last attempt to click with somebody was the final nail in the coffin, so to speak. I'm done.

As for validation, I figured out some time ago that trying to get it from other people was a losing proposition. I really don't think external validation means anything anyway -- other than that someone wants something from you.
