alot of crap about reward in the afterlife, who does what and why but the religious, atheists and agnostics (yes, i do feel left out here) quite often are charitable just because they want to help somebody out. and my guess would be in roughly equal numbers. silly to argue over what motivates charity for crying out loud. something good happens and we're arguing why it happened? A reward doesn't have to be shiny and sparkly. A reward is an outcome of an action. Reward - 2. recompense Recompense - 1 a : to give something to by way of compensation (as for a service rendered or damage incurred) b : to pay for 2 : to return in kind A reward is merely a deserved outcome of something(s). [example] Someone's reward for doing an illegal action could be jail, a fine, ect. Someone's reward for doing something nice for another could be a friendship. ect |

What can be more admirable than a charitable religious person? An atheist who does the same charitable work. Why? Because they get no reward after death for it. Which shows the superiority of Christianity. Christians don't believe they are rewarded in Heaven for good deeds and Christians don't believe in doing good deeds to get positive attention. Atheists may have a leg up on most religions, but Christianity is head and shoulders above them all. |

Just that, to help others out of love? |

Christianity is not about superiority. I believe that the religion founded by God is superior to all other religions. If you don't, why are you a Christian? |

Christianity is not about superiority.
Christians understand this without question. |

Christianity is not about superiority. Christians understand this without question. Well, I guess I'm not a "Christian". |

Christianity is not about superiority. I believe that the religion founded by God is superior to all other religions. If you don't, why are you a Christian? Because it's not a bed time story. It's the knowledge of the only true living God. |

It's the knowledge of the only true living God. Its the belief/faith. Who are we to say what was 'founded by God'? We can only say what was founded by God what God has said he founded. |

We can only say what was founded by God what God has said he founded. So you would accept at face value any document that claimed to have been written or inspired by God? |

No, there are many documents for that. It's not about documents, scriptures, or anything written. It's about relationship with God. |

Im just trying to understand you. Im not hinting that there is something wrong with anything youve said. Its your bizness and I fully respect that. God speaks to us. Some listen, some don't. |

God speaks to us. Some listen, some don't. And sometimes people hear God speaking when he isn't. |

I guess this means that Mother Theresa is the least charitable of all. I see your mother theresa, and raise her with a satan worshipping philanthropist,,,, who certainly must be the MOST ADMIRABLE of all,,, |

I guess this means that Mother Theresa is the least charitable of all. Mother Theresa was a real piece of work. She didn't feed the hungry or treat the sick, she did two things with the charity she received: Create houses of the dying and build new convents. The houses of the dying she created sound absolutely terrible. No pain killers, no visitors and no leaving your assigned mat on the floor. She believed that pain brought people closer to God, so she had no interest in releaving the suffering of those in her charge. |

She is far from what she is made out to be. |

You'd probably find that we agreed on a great number of things if you took the time to read my posts and get to know me. |

She is far from what she is made out to be. Quite rite. The initial comment was made in sarcasm and based on the pop culture version of Mother Theresa. Just the icon, not the reality, which to some is likely disturbing. Thank you! I wish everyone understood me the way you do. |
