Each day I sit here and wonder why.
For what reasons do I even try.
There are those that think they know me.
And maybe they do to a degree.
But they really have no clue.
They only see a certain view.
The side I chose to show.
The one I desire for them to know.
This side they see of me.
That is happy and care free.
Laughing and being silly.
At times acting like a young filly.
Yes that really is me.
The part I let you see.
But there is a much deeper side.
The one I have learned to push aside.
It only comes out when I’m alone.
Just by myself in my safety zone.
For there I can let my guard down.
I’m alone with no one around.
Here I sit surrounded by these walls.
Listening but no one ever calls.
There are many days.
This is the way it stays.
Not even wanting to venture out.
Instead I sit and find things to write about.
As I sit here all alone.
For I have no one I can call my own.
I don’t go out much.
It seems as if I have lost touch.
Going by my self just has lost its appeal.
When with others I feel as if I’m the third wheel.
At party’s I stand alone.
As if I’m made of stone.
I never thought it would ever be.
Like this for me.
Kids are grown.
And I’m left all alone.
Each day I come home to an empty house.
Always thought I would have a loving spouse.
But things in life don’t always go.
The way we thought they would years ago.
Before we know it life seems to have passed us by.
We get to the point we wonder why we even try.
No longer do I feel as if I belong.
All those years I felt so strong.
Juggling work, kids and a home and I still failed to see.
In the end it would end up just me.
Always thought that when I reached my prime.
I would have someone to love me at this time.
That loneliness would be a passing phase.
Instead I would be having someone to share life with for the rest of my days.

Yes frank at times I do tend to ponder at times too long some might think at times. I'm always wondering what where and how. things will go even though no matter how much we want somethings to happen and others not to happen. We are but for ever wondering for one never kmows till it happens. Humm as I ponder over what you said about being capitivating , close to reality. Hummmmmmmmmm as I sit and here and think of what you said for in all truth of the matter this is my reality this is my world the one I live in from day to day. Sitting wondering at times why do I really try. But then a glimse of a picture or thoughts of words spoken enter my mind. And once again it is all revealed to me why I try and keep going. It is due to the love of my two kids and my precious granddaughter. That is my reality and what makes me keep going. For I would never in this world ever do anything that would bring tears to there faces. They are my whole world and what I live for. There is no love any greater than the love from your children and your grandchildren. 'That is the purest LOVE ONE COULD EVER HAVE OR WANT.!!!

Boy was that an eye opener, TxsGal! Sounds so much like my life in the past few months and maybe a few years. Thank you for sharing the poem. It should be a song! I have been a member here for awhile, but never read topics much before. You have an awesome way with words. I liked the part about our grandkids and our kids in second post. I know without them I would be lost.
