I know what that feels like. At the end of the day after caring for others all shift it would be nice for someone to take care of me for a change. Today, when I get paid I am taking myself out for a nice dinner at the Hilltop restaurant. It is like a joke when I come in there. The waitress says, "You must have gotten paid, today." I thought trying to make it till payday at the end of the week was bad till I got a job that pays every two weeks.

Seems to be a chronic need with single people. I have all but resigned myself to the idea that there are givers and takers and I must be a giver because all I seem to get are takers.

She already told me that she was high maintenance and that I couldn't afford her. Besides she is her mother's best waitress. Her mother had to step in and take the restaurant back over. I am surprised that they survived Sonic moving in but there are those who like fast food and those that like the smorgasbord and home cooking of the restaurant.

Yea...I think that is why I have been relatively 'unavailable' for so long...I just didn't have the energy to weed them out..I did however, have one...who did want to take care of me...but I was too stubborn...I thought of that today...that's what prompted this post. |

I can't speak for all singles but I know getting used to be single was a real adventure. I can remember my mother telling me when I became single, "You poor dear. How will you survive?" It is funny now but it wasn't back then. I learned how to take care of myself, my dog and even a parolee. She has to see the parole officer just one more time in December. It has done much to help me grow up but it is definitely the last time I drive to a prison to help a friend. "I just need a place till winter." That was four winters ago.

Yea...seems like the two could co-exist...another mother to the rescue huh? |

Actually the mother isn't all that bad looking. But then I am used to the older crowd at work. She is hunched-back but gets around with the aid of the tables like they are canes. She is tight old biddy when it comes to pay her daughter says but it ain't easy trying to survive in the little town with just mainly the coffee drinkers.

Oh, yeah, for sure on the mothers. If my mom wouldn't have let me rent these four acres at 250 a month starting out it would have been harder. She let me stay here six months for free. And when my wife passed away she was there for me telling me that I had to let her go as she wasn't there any more. My sisters had bought that nice dress for her and the undertaker had her looking so nice. It was the first time I had seen her in makeup.

I meet a lot of takers. I used to wonder what the difference was between being a care giver and a care taker. One has to do with people and one has to do with land. I take care of both. One at work and the other at home.
