Until your prospective mate meets your family?

Not sure why this is in my head lately.

I know I keep people away from my son until I am sure they are it.

However, I hang out with my family (mom, brother, sister, grown niece and nephew) a lot. We do tons of fun things. It would be great to bring a potential boyfriend along. Even with my sister giving him the 20 questions, etc.

Thoughts, ideas, advice, monkey love?

Thanks in advance. Hugs, M

Heya lady! How's things?

I figure if you have found someone you want to be with, meeting relatives is incidental.

Everyone should reserve the right to their own power of approval, no matter the opinion of family or friends.

as one without children i have found that after a few dates/a month i begin wondering what the lady is afraid of. either the kids/grandkids like me or they don't and then all the other rules kick in.
i'm good with kids so its never been an issue. its the adult children that create the problem with me if they are using mom for money or are involved in illegal activities. then i am the one the opts out if the woman cannot understand that.

If it seems like a natural and appropriate extension of everyone's interests, I guess any time is cool. Like if you, he, and your dad all love fishing, and you are going fishing this weekend with an inclusive group of people, why not invite everyone?

But as far as "meeting the family", personally it weirds me out if I've just met someone and they start talking about meeting their family for the sake of meeting them. It makes it seem rushed.

Well don't do it on the first date unless ya trying to get rid of him/ her I would say date a month or two first. Myself the guys I have dated. I dated them for at least 2 months before they got to meet my kids for I did not want men in and out of there lives if your still dating them after 2 months then most likely it may last a while. Now that is just my opinion. Now that my kids are grown usually after the 3rd or 4th date. bigsmile Everyone is differnt it is just what makes you feel comfortable.

Well the fact that you have a son makes all the difference to me!! if you bring a man into his life and your son gets attached to him. I feel sorry for him if things don't work out for you. I don't know your situation but if you are divorced then your son is already dealing with one man gone what ever the circumstances! I just wish I could follow my own advice!!!!
