I would be very interested in people's ideas on this, as I live in a place where I don't know anyone, and I have no idea how to meet people here in real life.

I don't drink, so I will not be going to any bars or clubs.

Bars and clubs I would say not such a good Idea if you don't drink why go to clubs and if you do drink and you had one too many you don't know who you brought home. I knew someone who met there husband in a grocery store. They are all over the place.

What are your interests? Do you like to read? Go to the library or book store, join a book club. Do you want to meet a gardner and share your passion for growing veggies? Go to the garden center.

The thing is this, do not be shy, aproach that nice girl trying to pick up that huge bag of mulch and offer to carry it for her. Ok she might be married or not interested, think of it as practice. Then when the right girl happens to be there, you have your assistance approach down pat.

Just pick a place where singles are, some place where you like being, or some place where you would like to learn or do something new and say HI. Meeting the "one" I feel is being in the right place at the right time.

book store, library, jazz club, comedy club, grocery store, church,,,

as another poster said, they can pop up anywhere,,,

probably not so likely in a bar or club or place that is specifically for 'pickups' though

Churches are good places. A lot of churches have the different age groups.
