Topic: Why Do You Have To Drink?

What is the need to drink alcoholic beverages? It doesn't make me feel better. Nor Does it make my happier. It makes me feel ten times more depressed and very loopy. My type of fun and enjoyment is a long walk on the beach, watching the sun set over the big lake, out bike riding on the trails, road trip to wherever, or a good movie with that special someone. What few gals I've been with all seem to think that you cannot have fun and enjoy yourself without having a half or whole case of beer. I don't have to drink to have a good time. I enjoy it, though. Just because you don't like drinking, it shouldn't mean you have to look down on those who do like it. Just make it a point to hang out with/date people who also do not drink if it bothers you that much.

I just got back from the meeting. We had a new comer at the meeting who was sent there by Drug court. He just about forgot to get his paper signed. The lady at the Drug court who sent him has the first name of Eva. I used to wonder why some people would laugh at our saying the Lord's prayer until one member told us how strict Eva was. So after the meeting I made sure to sign the new comer's sheet. Then I told him here. This will protect you from Eva.

I'm with you on this one. I have little interest in drinking. I'll have a cocktail with friends, but I almost always drink less then they do, and often abstain entirely (I end up stuck as DD a lot, which is sometimes annoying). Even on a night when I am drinking, I can make one or two last me for 4 hours.

I normally drink if i'm out somewhere with friends. I'm one of those that likes to join in. I don't wanna come across as snobby. Just that i like to have fun as much as the next person. Whether it's a birthday party or a house party. I'm a happy drunk :)

I think some people need liquid courage to enjoy themself(sad), some need an excuse for doing all the stuff they would have no excuse for doing otherwise, but others just enjoy the taste(hard to imagine huh? but it happens).

I like to have a few drinks with friends, but I can also have a great time just having coffee with people too. And I agree with singmesweet "Just because you don't like drinking, it shouldn't mean you have to look down on those who do like it. Just make it a point to hang out with/date people who also do not drink if it bothers you that much."
