Some days, I wonder how many people suffer with the 'disease' but are never diagnosed....

Just some interesting information about the disease

The DSM-IV identifies the following symptoms:
An exaggerated sense of one's own abilities and achievements.

A constant need for attention, affirmation and praise.

A belief that he or she is unique or "special" and should only associate with other people of the same status.

Persistent fantasies about attaining success and power.

Exploiting other people for personal gain.

A sense of entitlement and expectation of special treatment.

A preoccupation with power or success.

Feeling envious of others, or believing that others are envious of him or her.

A lack of empathy for others.
An official diagnosis can be made by a qualified mental health professional, and requires that the individual exhibit 5 of the 9 symptoms identified in the DSM-IV. Practitioners must also rule out other psychiatric disorders in order to make a diagnosis

Well I persue success and attainment but that's my A drive at work.

I'm a B drive in personal life, I like to kick my heels up and relax.

perusal is not really preoccupation,,,

I would hope we all try to be 'successful' at the activities we involve ourself in.

I guess thats a mix up of my mum and dad laugh

But honestly, that's age old development, not a disease.

Thats interesting.all these symptoms seems present more or less in everyone around.I think the higher intensity of any symptom shall be considered as a disease.

So, politicians and Hollywood celebrities have a disease named after them.

Back on Planet Melmac, we called such a disease "Melmacian Disorder".

A self-confident ego is a disease?

Ha!

I bet some sniveling, pasty skinned book worm who ain't had a date for years and a massive inferieority complex came up with that one and a bunch of other dorks in lab coats said "YEAH! THAT'S WHAT'S WRONG!"

Here is the reality aspect.

Some people were raised to be proud and confident. (me)

Disease? My @$$. Sounds just like that crap about ADHD/ADD. Those are just kids being kids and some doctor decided he would rather drug his kid into a stupor instead of actually bothering to discipline the little turd.

i think there's a great difference between being confident and cocky.
i wouldn't issue a drug for being cocky though.
just a couple of slaps to the face should do the trick.
