Ok I've read and absorbed.I've thought and pondered.

Hell on earth..in our time ..now..I don't think of it as actual hell, I am not even really sure hell exists..what I do think is that whats going on now in the world today the hunger, the abuse, war,death is all part of what we as mere humans have to keep going through until we get it right, that we have to in order to finally get the clue....love one another, as brothers and sisters, exists peacefully in this world, help each other out so there is no hunger, abuse, war or needless death. Once and only once we have figured this out, all of us every damned human in this world, then we can know what heaven truly is.

The God I know, the God in my heart is one of love and peace, but to attain that we must learn that lesson...that everyone counts and everyone is worthy.

This all may be a bit child like in thinking but is God not simple, does he not prefer simple ways?? With our free will, our thinking minds we over complicate issues, we need to go back to our child minds and see things through that mind and eyes. Children love purely and innocently, only as they grow do they learn to meanness and anger we all have now, if we go back to seeing and thinking with our child minds then perhaps we will achieve this goal of peace and love a lot sooner.

Bravo Jenni. I liked what you had to say there. So, this hell on earth is of our own doing and it is not of God then? Because why? Because God gave us the thought and ability to never have known this in the first place? This hell we see is of consequence only because of selfishness, malice and power? If we would only do as we are asked, we shall overcome this land of many wars and spiritually dead? You shall have no other Gods before me,Love thy neighbor, Never covet.
Gives me reason to wonder:

We have seen that God forbids the making of any image or idol to represent Him: "For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments" (Exodus 20:5–6).
Because God is our Father, He is lovingly zealous for our eternal welfare. He is jealous over us, in that He will not countenance His children worshiping false gods. This, of course, is for our own good! If we persist in an idolatrous and vain form of worship, God says He will visit our iniquity upon our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There are many ramifications to this statement and principle. But there is one obvious direct meaning in this context. If, in worship, men put an idol, image or something else in place of God and come under the influence of that false worship, then they are not only harming themselves—but their children and grandchildren! The principle is that their false idea of worship will be transmitted to their children—damaging and wrecking their lives and happiness! It is a solemn and terrible thing to pass on to your children a false concept of God. It is one of the most awful things a parent can do! For it should be obvious to any Bible-believing person that the worship of idols and false "gods" has absolutely wreaked havoc in the lives of billions of people. Cut off from the knowledge of the Creator, untold millions have been deceived by Satan (Revelation 12:9), and as a result have experienced wars, broken homes, mass starvation, slavery—and all manner of human suffering and degradation beyond description!
But together with this warning, God gives a merciful promise to those who are willing to worship God as He commands. In their case, He is a loving and merciful God, "showing mercy to thousands" who love Him and keep His commandments. Here is a remarkable contrast. God only visits the iniquity of the fathers to the third and fourth generations before intervening with merciful punishment and learning the truth. But He shows mercy to the thousandth generation!
God calls men into His own immediate spiritual presence—to worship their Creator directly. Men can come to really know the great God of the universe as their personal Father. They can daily walk with Him, talk with Him. Whenever a man stops short of that face-to-face worship of the Eternal God, he is working ruin in his own character—breaking the commandment of God. This is the meaning and force of the second commandment.

This hell on earth? Gods promise to those that did not heed His word?

sometimes it's hell ...the word we've become familiar with and associated all sorts of images to ...what could hell possibly be other than what our feeble minds are capable of creating? what is hell? is it being in the center of the nova as it goes into super drive? in relationship to what? one person's hell is another's miracle.

there is no hell ...nor heaven . only states of mind that we have labled...coming from our imaginations and our visions...

as we face another radical climate change all over the world...as wars and disease ravage our planet....and with the models and 'givens'... what will we have to become to survive in the future?...is arriving there, going thru hell?

how many races will vanish because of an inability to adapt fast enough to meet the changes ...and those races that have weakened their genetic chances for survival by proliferating a population of humans that have no lung capacity (ie:generations of smoking and living with pollution) or the
understanding of basic survival techniques....swimming, hunting, animal husbandry...yes, even natural medicine and midwifery. All the processes of natural selection will determine the final result.
and what if we NUKE ourselves?? i mean seriously! we have done it, is that hell? are we hell?.... i mean hell if we invented it and it looks this nasty , then hell i say we belong in it...

i digress.....


hell. there really is no hell... there is just all this.... and we call it what we will.

hell and heaven on earth is what we do of earth.
that means is that we choose what we want to live.
we see too many abd things as the things that kat mentioned, and more than one can make a question like: "why God allows this to happen?" Then we think that is hell on earth. However, we don't see or we don't want to see what is God's purpose. I honestly believe that God allows those kind of things to happen for us to realize how blessed we are with the little things we have. For us to be more compassionate with people. When we have the chance God puts situtations in our path, so we can help our brothers and sisters.
Nevertheless, there is another aspect we have to see in this so called hell on earth. Our own lifes with the everyday problems. Bad spouses, trouble with our children, problems at job, dealing with ourselves and our misseries, etc. All this things are not for us to think that we are living in hell. They happen for us to realize that God is the only who can help us. Most people spend a lot of time cursing God for all their problems instead of asking God to provide the help we need, and most important than anything being grateful for what we have.
Heaven on earth it's nothing else than the realization that in everything we do and are God is there close to us. When we get to that realization, and just then, we start living heaven on earth.

Since - from your posts - I sense that you have your belief in God, I'll respond from that perspective.

Since Heaven and Hell are basically biblical concepts, their existance here on earth can be viewed rather simplistically. For those who believe in God, and his word - trusting the finished work of his Son on the cross - live here on earth is all the Hell they will ever know. It isn't a location - such as the battlefields of Iraq or the poverty stricken area's of Africa - it's around every corner. Hell is a "state" whereas there is an absense of God. However.... for those who think that God does not exist, that the Son is not who he claimed to be - or that Hell doesn't even exists - life here on this earth is all the Heaven they will ever know. And this is essentially from the book where these terms came from.

Hold on (standing with arms in the air) - don't shoot the messanger! I didn't write the book where the terms "heaven and hell" came from... I just read it. And my post was nothing new, I'm sure if we took a poll, a majority of the people whould have heard that all before.

In one resident I have worked with I have experienced a new kind of hell. Before I went to rehab there was only the fire and brimstone hell. Since that time I have come to know many hells. I recently encountered two deaths and the passings were sweet in that there was no more pain. It is hard to watch people literally starve themselves to death and not be able to do anything about it. But this one resident that I deal with who has schizophrenia is really something. The nurse made the evaluation that the medication given to him was actually manifesting through side effects his conditions. Even after being taken off that medication he still exhibits the same behavior. It is the worse kind of manic-depressive behavior that I have ever encountered. He has no peace as there is this vicious cycle that he encounters between praying for help and getting very irate when help is given to him. His condition gets worse each passing day while he goes through some kind of mental torture that seems self-inflicted.
