I was injured in 2006 when I had a really bad fall and have chronic pain.

If you have it, how do you deal with it?

I just wince with it and go on living.

Sandlewood and CutiePie:
If you are interested in Feldenkrais/somatics but classes aren't available or cost too much, check out this book:
Somatics-Reawakening the Mind's Control of Movement, Flexibility, and Health by Thomas Hanna.
My copy cost about $10. Sorry it took me so long to find it and report back, but the class I took was based on the exercises they show in this book and it really helped me.

I have worked very hard & abused my body, most of my life. Our experience with the cancer that took my wife's life, started me on an investigation of nutritional supplements. 6 years ago, I found a company of integrity with natural products. Most supplements are synthetic & not active. I would reccommend you do your diligence, look at what you are putting in your body & see what happens.
I walk better, less stomach problems, sleep better & enjoy life more.
If you want more of my opinion, feel free to contact mehere, for my FB page.

I live with chronic pain. Over time that feeling of "I must bed the ONLY one who feels this bad" goes away. The pain doesnt though. Everyone is different. "Trying the pill bit" might not be the best advice. I've run the gamut on pills and pain meds. My last resort was to go to methadone and I said absolutely not. NO way is a doctor going to make me a legal drug addict. So I have basically been calming the pain down at least a bit, with an antidepressant. I will be going back on a pain patch for a few months but I can only do that about every 5 years for about a year.

Chronic pain (mine is fibromyalgia) feels (to me) like it hurts for the blood to course through my body.

Horseback riding helped me the most. Tightens the muscles without overexerting. Cayenne pepper opens the blood vessels, gets oxygen to the injured areas. Biofeedback and meditation also worked. Swimming, and walking, as well. Aleve/Naproxen, or the occasional aspirin offset the worst of it. Chamomile tea helps relax.

Damn i'm sorry to hear that. I usually find a hot water bottle really helps. I don't bother that much with pain killers, as they never seem to have much effect. Saying that, everyones body will react differently. Rest helps, too. If the pain gets TOO bad, then don't hesitate going to the ER.

well if you are a man get used to it you will probably have it for life or i have had chronic pain for 16 years just man up and deal with it dont let it ruin you yeah drugs like oxycontin, opana, dilaudid helps but that is only a temporary fix. Just man up and block the pain out look no matter what you do it is going to be there and we just cant do anything about it. I can block it out for the most part real good and most people wouldnt even think i am hurt as bad as i am because i have got my mind to overcome the pain. there are the bad days that i cant block it out and on those days i take some opana and hate to say it but get high as hell and feel like im floating for a few hours then go to sleep then when i wake up its time to block that **** out. Mind over matter you can do it but do have a strong painkiller for those days you cant block it out opana 40mg really help mebut they come with a wicked addiction problem so be careful dont use pills as a fix cause there is nothing worse than being dopesick and in pain

Having to dealt with this I have found for each person the combination of what works for one may be different for others but usually it is the combination approach that works best.

Pain medication has it's place that I don't discount when the body or spirit needs a break. Pain is stressful and does tend to compound if you only try to ignore it.

Surrounding yourself with people who are part of your team does helo. I can remeber tremendous reduction in my pain when I finally got enough of a few toxic people I down loaded, or at least restricted, out of my life.

Humor is not a bad treatment. Depending how bad I feel it might be more "inner circle" than some, so I don't ignore peer interactions; sometimes they get the humor others won't. It does tend to break through pain with fewer side effects.

Being creative is for me too. Especially since the traditional venue of contributeing to society through work is sometimes limited.

On thing I don't think I have seen mention that is a essential element for me is water therapy. It takes very little effort, expense, and has few side effects. Sometimes alternateing temperature and water movent changes the result.

Faith also helps me. I don't see my pain as punishment but remaining function and life so I often ask my angels to help me feel only what I can bear. I am sure some of that is related to blocking it out but sometimes it is sending my body beyond it.
