A 43-year-old man from Portland, Maine was arrested Thursday evening in the 2000 block of North Carson Street for allegedly trying to steal a baseball cap from a store. He also allegedly fought with store security officers who apprehended him, and later spit in a deputy's face. He was arrested for misdemeanor petit larceny, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor obstructing an officer. His bail was set at $1,886.

I do Loss Prevention, I sugest you get a job doing that while your in school, most people use it as a stepping stone to get in to a department.

Criminal Justice and Psycology help if you want to be a street cop, you don't always need a degree and plan on starting in the jail for years before you hit the street.

If you want to be a Federal Agent you need to have a minimum of a 4 year degree, most applicants have multiple degrees.

Theft is theft. How would you feel if it was someone coming onto your property taking your stuff?

Not to mention the professional rings that hit the stores and cause store prices to skyrocket becuase of it. In most stores Liquor and Cosmetics and over the counter medicaitons are marked up up to 80% to help cover the loss from theft.

AND almost everyone I catch has either priors, on parole or probation or has warrants for their arrest, some on serious charges like this guy did and the person I caught last night.

If they get away once they'll try again. Hopefully by catching them a light bulb will go on and they'll say never again.
I think its great that you get recognition for doing things to keep us safe. Even if there were no priors, I imagine, if folks get away with one crime, they go higher and higher. No problem nipping it in the bud, or showing them early on, someone is watching.
