LOL

I have seen it all, swat at the door, cops all the time, people running down the street with what they stole from the store and the cops chasing, dealers, pimps, hoes, domestic on both sides, car chases I have had to get out of the way of, etc...

And I have still seen more legal gun abuse than illegal.

And considering the guy doing the shooting targeted a left wing youth event and he was right wing in personal politics...

Oh you WACKY liberals. So is this how you solve your arguments with society?

Yeah yeah, he was just one guy. But blame the guns now...

Come on, Lets hear it...

I thought he was an EXTREMIST,,on the CONSERVATIVE side(being resistant to change), that wouldnt be a liberal would it?

,,labels are so confusing,,,

Our political labels and theirs are not the same.

I do think guns should be MUCH MORE difficult to get legally. Just like a medical license.

Yeah , people will find a way to get guns like they do drugs. But licensing shoud be in place to help put that type of 'life saving/life ending' product in the hands of those most likely to understand it use and not apply it toward harmful means.

Any joe who happens to have escaped being caught in illegal activity should not be permitted to own a gun.

as to the rest, this is a smokescreen issue, the true issue was the police being ill prepared to handle the situation(a very rare situation in that region of the world in the first place)

I dont think such an 'exception' can be used to point out a 'rule' to anything.

So have you every been mugged or attacked?

I have. I was walking home from work one night and I was on a long dark block where there were no houses. I man was walking towards me on the other side of the street. Then he started coming right at me.

He came right at me and with two hands, reached for my throat as if to choke me. I used my two hands to break his hands apart. I think he was drunk so that is why I easily defended myself. I then pushed against his chest (Hit him in the chest) with my right hand and knocked him backwards. I was prepared to then kick him in the groin when a car turned up the block. He backed off as the car passed.

I turned to run towards home, but I was not in very good shape and I was afraid he would over take me from behind so I turned around to face him. Then he said that he just needed 'some help.' I told him that was not the way to go about asking for help.

My hand was in my coat pocket and I think he thought I had a gun there when I warned him not to come any closer. (I didn't) I was just prepared to kick him. He turned around and went the other direction.

If he had not been drunk.... and if he had really wanted to hurt me or rob me or something... I would have been helpless.

That is why I feel that carrying a gun might be a good option for some people who don't know karate or can't run away fast.

You have to consider, most people with psychological problems are gonna reach for a gun for "protection", intmidation, etc...

And because we do not screen for mental problems they can legally have them.

The thugs on the street can legally have them if they had no felony.

Men who are abusors of women love guns for their "play" with women and they can legally have them.

Legal guns owners are dangerous.

So what? If you want to go without a gun that is YOUR decision.

Criminals will always have easy access to guns.

So we should have guns to protect ourselves from those dangerous legal gun owners.

Right?

I don't remember. I had them explained to me but I don't remember. I just know that liberal and conservative and right and left mean something completely different in Europe.

Purse snatched, two attempted rapes and I foiled the rapes with my own body. I stopped a possible attack one time with pepper spray. He ran up on me and I sprayed him and left. I don't know what his intent was.

I cant argue whether it is or isnt.

I just know it could be a BAD Thing for those who cant run fast too because they may use it when they are 'fearful' of something that turned out not to be the threat they perceived,,,, as in what happened to you.

Guns should be taken much more seriously IMHO. Too many people imagine themselves to be cowboys and cowgirls.

I will continue to equate it with having a doctors license, its THAT serious. Training should be required, certifications passed(not 8 years obviously..lol), criminal background checked, and mental/emotional evaluations passed.

There are alot of people who will never voluntarily go to a psychologist but who have serious issues that should keep them from handling such a deadly weapon. There are undiagnosed nuts and there are criminally minded who have not yet made the transition to being a 'documented' criminal. I dont want the law putting guns into their hands INTENTIONALLY.

Law of averages, that is the way it will usually happen.

Personally, I don't carry a gun. But I may decide to change that one day. If I do, I would never use deadly force unless I was definitely in dire fear of my life.

If I was still living in the city and there was a serial rapist and home invasions in my neighborhood, I would definitely arm myself. In Colorado, we have the "Make my day Law." If someone breaks into your home you can shoot them.

I hope I never live where it is so bad that

'shoot first, ask questions later'

is the required norm,,,,,

I have had two men broken into my home while they thought I was sleeping

I have had one assault in a park

another at someones home

,,,no guns in any of those situations and everyone is still alive

I prefer that to any other outcome(even if it means the perp lives too)

That is one of the reasons that in a mass shooting the legal gun owners are no good. They are too shook up, they fear brandishing it, they are not sure if they can legally shoot the shooter and not be charged, etc..

That is why I call the false advertising when I see it.

No gun toter has saved the day in a mass shooting like that.

It should not be used as an example of what "good" guns are.
