I'm proud of you for overcoming that addiction. I've done pretty much everything, meth included. I went to drug and alcohol counseling for a year in 08/09. I don't like AA, but was court ordered to go, since they never checked my sheet, I got away with just telling them I was going even though I only attended maybe two meetings. Next time, I may have to actually attend AA meetings or worse, that and more importantly my nephew were what stopped all that for me. you didnt say if you were addicted to anything now??? |

Thats some of the lyrics to one of my songs called,"addicted". I havent been addicted to meth now, for 4 years... 
That was one of my first posts here,"NO More Meth Mouth"(I smoked it), and of course, I had no program, or family to help me quit, but I did have the Minglers, cheering me on, and God, and I did it cold turkey, after many years.(I like to tell people this, because maybe it will strike a nerve, and they might say, "if she did it, I can do it",and quit. 
But now I cant stop eating big marshmallows, and corn flakes and peaches, and its starting to show! 
What are you addicted to? I didn't know that at all about you. I am even more impressed with you than I was before...and that was a lot. You kicked cancer AND meth???????? Wow.

Im not sure what qualifies as an addiction...
medical dictionary states that Addiction is a persistent, compulsive dependence on a behavior or substance. The term has been partially replaced by the word dependence for substance abuse. Addiction has been extended, however, to include mood-altering behaviors or activities. Some researchers speak of two types of addictions: substance addictions (for example, alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking); and process addictions (for example, gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity). There is a growing recognition that many addicts, such as polydrug abusers, are addicted to more than one substance or process ok, so 'mood altering behavior or activity' I can say chocolate and sex alter my mood, as well as a good movie, a good book, or good music ,,,I am not dependent upon any of these things on any significant level, but they would qualify based on the above explanation of 'addiction' |

I used to be addicted to cigarettes; I quit 10 years ago (it will be 11 in December). However, I still crave them terribly. I enjoyed smoking and I miss it.
Can a person be addicted to G-d? I depend upon him; praying to or praising him alters my mood and activities. I can't seem to quit believing in him even though sometimes I want to throw in the towel. I just can't give him up. By the way, Roberta - congratulations on quitting something that I hear is nearly impossible to quit. I think you're amazing.

Nothing is impossible Alterette, I also quit smoking cigarettes this year, and thats was a biotch. But I did it!! And ive been diagnoised as "bipolor", just one more hurdle im gonna have to jump!!
