Has anyone read, or listened to the entire Bible from beginning to end?

I have read it, beginning to end, but in pieces and over time,,, never at a single sit through of any sort.

I am trying to do a more continuous reading (start to end) at this point in my life as I expose my daughter to church.

I'm in the process of listening & reading on screen, while it's being narrated from DVD.
It's amazing to hear & see the Word for yourself.:smile:

5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

5:38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

5:40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

5:41 I receive not honour from men.

5:42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

5:44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.

5:47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

JESUS CHRIST, LORD/SAVIOR

Reading the Bible cover to cover will not make you more saint or closer to God. Is a start but I know a lot of agnostics, university profesors that read the Bible. They do not understand the Bible the same way as a real christian. Totally different understanding. I carried a new testament while in the military and tried to read it many time and could not get anything out. But when I gave my life and accepted Jesus as my Lord and savior evrything was very clear to me. Even without Bible studies. Later yes, I attended Bible studies and my understanding expanded. Only the Holly Spirit can openup our understanding to be able to not only read the Bible but to get an understanding which is more important than reading the whole Bible.

Paul tried to explain this principle to the church of Corinthian.

2Corinthian 3:14-15

14 But the people's minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ
15 But unto this day, whensoever Moses is read, a veil lieth upon their heart.

Jehova witness read, promote, the Bible (well..their Bible version)But they lack this principle. Is a Spiritual matter and not a knowlege issue. I alway try to get people to understand that when christianity was florished there were no Bibles. Just manuscripts, letters and pieces here and there. But no Bibles specially for the non-jewish people. They only had Paul and helpers to teach them, so you have to think; How they became christians without Bibles?

So, Reading the Bible is Good, but getting an understanding of the Bible is another matter.

Hope this Help, God Bless

You're a little blunt, Jose, but I agree. tongue2 I grew up in a family that read the Bible and I've read it more than once, but barely understood anything until I became a believer and was filled with the Holy Spirit. And every time I read the Scriptures, more is revealed.

Yep... I've been a believer in Jesus since childhood. As I'm sure many others have also, but have never read the whole bible. I've only read parts, and pieces.

My Bible and I

We've traveled together through life's rugged way
O'er land and o'er water, by night and by day:
To travel without it I never would try;
We keep close together, my Bible and I.

In sorrow I've proved it my comfort and joy,
When weak my strong tower which nought can
destroy;
When death comes so near me 'tis thought I
would die,
We still are together, my Bible and I.

If powers of evil against me would come,
And threaten to rob me of heaven and home,
God's Word then directs me to Him in the sky;
And nothing can part us, my Bible and I.

When evil temptations are brought to my view,
And I in my weakness know not what to do,
On Christ as my strength I am taught to rely;
And so we keep company, my Bible and I.

When life's path is ended; if Jesus should come
And take all his blood-purchased brethren home;
Or if, in long suffering, He waits till I die.
We'll never be parted, my Bible and I.

And when in the glory my Lord I behold,
With all His redeemed gathered safe in the fold,
My Bible and I close companions will be,
For God's Word abides for all eternity.
—Author Unknown

"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

2 Timothy 3:15-16

Reading Through the Bible

I supposed I knew my Bible,
Reading piece-meal, hit or miss;
Now a bit of "John" or "Matthew,"
Now a snatch of "Genesis."
Certain chapters of "Isaiah,"
Certain "Psalms,"—the twenty-third,
Twelfth of "Romans," first of "Proverbs."
Yes, I thought I knew the Word.
But I found a thorough reading
Was a different thing to do,
And the way was unfamiliar
When I read the Bible through.
Ye who treat the Crown of Writings
As you treat no other book—
Just a paragraph disjointed,
Just a crude, impatient look—
Try a worthier procedure,
Try a broad and steady view;
You will kneel in very rapture
When you read the Bible THROUGH.
—Amos R. Well
