I don't go for "nice guys." I also don't go for the jerks either.

I'm not sure if that makes you a nice guy. It just makes you someone who was interested in someone else and not your ex. Exes are exes for a reason.

NICE GUYS --Wonderful men we all dream of that are found by heinous ******* who fool them into believing they are NICE GIRLS.

This inevitably ends them into a marriage or relationship that includes a child and the veritable sucking of all their hard earned money, self-respect, and kindness when they discover the ******* true nature.

For the child's sake, this wonderful NICE GUY will take the abuse for a few years, until the child is old enough to understand dad is unhappy, even though they don't like it much. NICE GUY will become BITTER DIVORCED/NEWLY SINGLE GUY.

We broke up on friendly terms and I was living out of state and she came to visit me and we went to NYC together. She stayed with me for a week and yea I was tempted as we had been fwb a long time after we broke up.

I think you're trying too hard to make yourself sound like a nice guy.

Because growing up I always was the nice guy. But apparently if you admit to being a nice guy you get the 3rd degree. Thus I will just start saying I am a jerk. I was never a nice guy so now maybe people will leave me alone.

I consider myself to be a very nice man. I am eerily civil and polite in social situations. But, that is just one side of who I am.

I know lots of nice guys. Guys who I would hook up with my lonely sister...but, I know she would break them.

Nice has nothing to do with boring.....nice is a self imposed limitation.

Well, I've been fooled by the falsified "nice girls" enough times to be suspicious of everybody!

But, in my experience, I don't think they're looking for a guy who is "nice" as a pre-existing condition. They seem to look for guys who are a "challenge" and then do everything they can to make him compliant and malleable to the point where he needs to shut his brain off.

Agreed, it's probably not true of every woman, and I'm one who has issues with blanket statements, anyway....but I can only go by what I've seen and what I've experienced.

And I have no problems with the concept of finding a good thing, but, ya know, the "good things" usually turn out to be grenades wrapped in Twinkies or something....

Sure, if someone comes along who isn't trying to turn me into my polar opposite, I'd have to take a look at that. But I've heard the claims before; and let's just say they tend to be deceptive, at the very least....!

True nice guys don't need to talk people into believing they're nice. If you have to convince people you are nice, perhaps you're not so nice? Just my opinion.

This is a forum not real life. I don't tell people how I am a nice guy in real life lol. Sorry for talking about it in a nice guy thread. I learned my lesson.
