I say, we should hold all to this standard

if anyone says ANYTHING not true, ever in life, they should be assumed to be lying with EVERYTHING else they say

if ANY part of the american history I have learned is questioned or discredited concerning its validity,, I should toss out EVERYTHING I know of american history

we should not take any lesson from any source that can have any part of it questioned,,,,

that should work ......

learn from everything, discard nothing,,,

Why would you do that?
First, if you find something that is unsupported, and it does not seem true, just don't take it as true.

If a source seems to consistently be false, you will probably stop trusting that as a good source for truth. This does not mean that everything coming from that source is false, but there are other sources that are more reliable.

It has to do with trust. Do you trust someone who is known to lie? Do you trust any source that is known to be false or extremely biased? Do you believe propaganda?

There is too much information to waste your time trying to justify an unreliable source.

Yes Ms.

Very astute of you to recognize the flaw in Abra's form, which is the exact same form that underlies the word for word literal fundamentalists.

If we applied this kind of reasoning everywhere to everything, we could soon find ourselves doubting everything and being able to admit to knowing nothing. That, in and of itself, is impossible for one simple reason...

All doubt is doubting the truth of, and is grounded upon an extant belief that goes without doubt.

We must all take a stand(in thought/belief) somewhere.

Well you might want to pencil it in.....laugh laugh laugh

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

And the truth is exposed....

People will one day completely discredit the Bible as mostly a work of fiction and discover how it was rewritten. It will be discovered that Abraham was a fictional character, as well as his so-called descendants. That is when all of the Abrahamic religions of the world will fall apart and the true lineage of the Jewish people will be discovered, because they certainly can't be God's chosen people when this happens.

So in this way, the Jews and the Abrahamic religions are co-dependent on each other in the desire to prevent the truth from being known.

This chipping away of the lies we have been told for centuries is happening now.

No need to loose your belief in God, if you have one. But we have been lied to.

The problem here is that there is no way to default this book of fables to those who believe it because whether it is logical or truthful doesn't matter, it is the "true right way" no matter what.

But there has been a decline in the rolls of the Christian churches which gives hope that there are those who do have to have logic and facts to believe something. And that there are those who believe hypocrisy, supremacy and mind control are not the way to go for a person to live.

verify everything with more than one different source \

Yea it is time consuming but if it is important to you, you should do it rather than take a book as gold or a person as all knowing.

So why do Muslims and Christians and Catholics and Jews kill each other if they all live by the Bible.

They should practice what they preach I think.!!

If they would only do that..... then I would worship their God and hold their Bible as sacred.

Jeanniebean, you have to recognise at some point that it's people that do those things...

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body,

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure

Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds

Mon 07/04/11 11:32 AM
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all

clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts

We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses

1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Just felt good to put this up!

It may feel good, but what would any of that have to do with the topic at hand?

If you're going to hold LOVE up as the primary concept that we should revere, then clearly we should all toss the Hebrew folklore of God away.

There is nothing "Loving" about a God who would PUNISH all women of humanity with painful childbirth due to the poor choices of some supposed primordial woman.

There's no love in such an ignorant curse.

So if we're going to hold LOVE up as our standard for the highest form of divinity, etc, then the biblical fables of a God are OUT.

~~~~
Or perhaps that was your point?
That's about the only way I can see your post fitting into this topic.
You must be supporting the discrediting of the bible based on LOVE is all I can figure.
It's from the Bible, you know, that thing that your discrediting.
I would say that's pretty on topic.
That's totally irrelevant. There is nothing in any of those verses that supports the outrageous claims made elsewhere in the cannon of fables.
Just because some author in the Bible writes about his perception of what LOVE should be doesn't give the entire cannon the PATENT on LOVE.
Besides, much of what was actually stated here by Paul appears to fly in the very face of any sort of "verbatim support" for prophecies.
He says himself in #8 "But where there are prophecies, they will cease"
I take that to mean that we shouldn't cling to ancient superstitions forever. And that's what most of the Bible is, IMHO.
There is no support for accepting the biblical cannon of fables as any sort of absolute word of God anything you've quoted there.
~~~~~

In fact, as I have pointed out. I Paul is holding up the concept of LOVE to be paramount, then we can indeed quickly dismiss many of the ancient biblical fables as being unloving.

So I don't care who wrote it. It doesn't support the biblical cannon as we know it today. In fact, the biblical cannon as we know it today did not even exist in the time of Paul, so clearly Paul could not have been supporting the cannon of stories that we today call the "Bible" anyway.
