It's frustrating. I have specifically written on my profile that I don't want to be contacted by anyone younger than 35; actually, I'd prefer no one younger than 45. My eldest child will be 35 next month and I'm REALLY not interested in someone who is the same age as my children!
And yet, the majority of chat requests and messages I get are from guys this age or younger! Don't they READ the profiles??? Sorry, just venting ... |

You may want to work on the Settings of your account and limit your contacts from the Mail settings.
Yes, there are some who don't bother to really understand the profile, if they read at all. There could also be some who take their chance and think they might interest you anyway. You have the right to ignore those you don't really want to. I know it's kinda frustrating but that instance really happens when we take the risk of having this online thing. ah, take it as compliment and simply move on.
oh and by the way, most of them probably haven’t read the profile, but don’t be surprised to see some of them posting how they contact multiple women and never get any responses. |

yes, change ur settings to above that age. might wanna turn off ur IM settings too.

I quit trying to figure people out a long time ago. I concur.... this seems to be the easier route. But since you've stated your preferences... there doesn't seem to be any harm in just "blowing-off" anything that doesn't conform to your desires... is there? A nuisance-thing to be sure... and I feel for you. Hardly a gender-specific thing, btw. |

It is much easier to just to go to settings and set it so those you do not want to contact you can not......  Use the link above and problem is solved. Most do not even read the whole profile if any of it when they contact others. They see the heading and that is as far as some get. |

I'm having the same problem and...I'm getting guys who are in another state. Its not flattering at all to get responses from younger guys, it actually disturbs me.

What bugs me is when I get matched by the site (not always this site) to men that are definitely NOT in the age range I chose. I'm going to be 40 on the 25th of this month. I just got divorced from a man 9 years my junior and I have sworn off younger men- at least that much younger. I believe I put on my profile that I prefer men ages 38 to 48. I keep getting nudges from 30 year olds or 50 and beyond. No offense to anyone, but I don't want to date someone too young- I had it up to HERE with that- nor do I want to date someone who is closer to my parents' age either. For some reason, no one around my age is interested, and the dating sites can't seem to figure it out that I want 38 to 48! Argh!
And yes, I do hate it when someone from another state- or worse, another country- contacts me. Long distance relationships are hard enough when you've been with someone and then they have to move away for whatever reason, but I certainly don't want to start out a relationship that way. Apparently, I am utterly unappealing to men my age that live anywhere near me.

There are filters you can set for age and location if you really feel the need to do so, but that will limit who you get to meet. The forums are a good place to start, though. |
