i hate most of todays 'music' (and i use that word loosely). i remember great bands like Boston, def lepard' zz top. all todays music is about trying to look good. i think most of the so called singers should teach clown school. cause thats what they look like...clowns. they play a pre recorded drum beat and try to put words to it. i miss the great harmonies, cool guitar licks, and drum solos.

Try some Avett Brothers, The Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons. There is a lot of gems out there. not of the ''Rock-n-Roll'' type that you speak of. But, still awesome when it comes to writing, playing, and story telling.

def leppard and zztop are 2 of my favorite bands - I was just cranking VH a few minutes ago too

I like some of today's music, but I look at music as a kaleidoscope where the genres do not have lines of distinction, but rather flow into each other both in terms of time and of style

we were talking earlier about music from childhood and someone mentioned "locomotion" a version by a modern band - so of course I mentioned that it's Little Eva's song & that version is as real and current to me as if she had just recorded it (and will always be my fav version) <just to illustrate my "flow" theory

modern music that I like includes - what I think some of the best has been recently as far as rock or r&b- Creed, the Deftones, Staind, 2pac shakur , M&M, Limp Bizkit, Incubus, AIC, Pearl Jam, Bush (though some of these aren't that new any more- or recording now), Korn, Puddle of Mudd, Rage Against The Machine - I'm sure Ima forgetting some & this is my best of the best list off the top of my head

and others will think of more I am sure

if u are Beatles era u would like Incubus, and Puddle perhaps

Plenty of good bands out there. As a musician I tend to listen to everything. I also believe that music will always be a decision based on personal taste. So my thoughts are probably to broad on what is considered "good". Check out the band Saving Able the have a really good rock sound and are all decent musicians.

I don't - not at all - not a crimson fan either - never big on arena rock or speed metal either

tho I liked Deep Purple at that time I was more involved in jazz and bands that were either jazz or twang based
like steely dan or the flying burritos

frampton was pretty good - excellent actually

but I like post punk & grunge/post grunge metal better than most of that stuff now & 80s hair stuff

it is pretty much about personal preferences

Classical rock is just as musical as most of the music out there right now. In fact people are definitely doing MUCH more advanced stuff with electronic music. From a composing standpoint I'd say its much harder writing a trance or industrial glitch song than a rock tune. The knowledge of sound required for that is incredible. I like classical rock but there's lots more epic stuff out there.

well there could also be an argument that electronics is not music - that it's not music if u don't play the instrument yourself - not necessarily acoustic only, but an instrument

hey has anyone else seen that new instrument that was invented as basically a portable synthesizer? It looks like an electric oboe with keys? I forget what it's called

but anyway, I did wonder what u meant by less, or more musical?
