Always do a background check on the individual that you are doing business with. Come to find out that New York Life will hire anyone that applies. They hire people from ex prostitute/strippers on Well-Fare, to Petey the pedophile (who's real interest is your kids)!! Do yourself a favor and make sure you know who you let in your home and in your finances. Research them, they research you!winking

Haha, I'll just put up my TSA badge. I had to go through hell n back on a background check for that thing! They checked every police department in the country, the FBI, everyone. So now I can walk into O'Hare and bypass security

Even before I got hired they did a police and federal background check just to get paid minimum wage at the nursing home. And the background checks came out of my first pay check. If you want to work off shore and be an off shore man you go through a world check. It might make one think twice when they hear that song from the television show, "Cheers" with the words of " I want to go where everyone knows my name."

Yea, with the TSA badge, they also did a check with all our allied countries. So needless to say it took about a month to get that badge.

I think they do background checks to be licensed, so NYL might not do it, but the state does, I think.

I'm cool, I'm kinda suspicious by nature anyway. Have dealt with the "criminal element" for almost 16 years. I don't care how nice someone seems or looks. You can NEVER be TOO CAREFUL.

My badge just makes it worse. And then some guys from here wanna know why I want proof of who they are. And with scammers in ALL shapes and sizes. You have to be vigilant.

WELL.... DUH!!slaphead
Plus I have a young child in my home. So thats even more reason.

I remember working under the "Badge" too, I did Special Agent work for Homeland Security back in '04. They do a comprehensive check on everybody. But my point is to make sure that the individual coming into Your Home and looking into Your Finances is the person that you want. Been Verified allows you to check Their credit report too. Do you want someone who cant control their own finances to be your financial advisor? Pinnacol Insurance got hit hard by this fact too!

This is true you would think that anyone working for mortgage companies would have some kind of background check. Not always found out when we were refinancing a few years ago. That the agent had been charged with embezzling tons of money form clients. NEEDLESS TO SAY. I went ballistic on the company. And they then had No problem lettin gme out of the refinance agreement. I say google everyones names. And you can search all Dept. of Corrections sites for free (any state).

Some back ground checks come up with false information that will hurt a person.

If they are "ex" strippers or prostitutes what is wrong with that? Huge accommpishment to those ladies if they are able to break into the established work enviroment, they wouldnt have done otherwise if they had a choice...now that they do, don't deny them a better life. Don't be a hater or a judge, unless you are ready to be judged yourself.

Yeh I was wondering the same thing,

Does it mean that just because I was a prostitute that you wouldnt hire me.
Do I not work as well, am I slower, less educated, what exactly makes me unqualified just because of past experiences.

Seem a pretty strange reason not to hire me, or be friends with me...

Well thats just my opinion ...

It depends on the company, the position, etc.

I can see where that would be a problem if you were applying to be a police officer, but I don't see how it would be a problem if you were applying to for a cashier position.

i rarely let ANYone into my home, period.

however, it's almost impossible to do background checks on individual workers...you can do a check on the company itself, but they don't supply the names and such of the people they'll be sending.
