Why is it that people will read each other's stuff but not say anything? It bothers me.

For some things there is no answer.

I probably think this what is about me? No I don't think the world revolves around me if that's....what you're saying. I looked at a lot of the topics and there are so many views but so few replies. Aren't we here to get feedback...?

(Referencing The Gong Show.)

Anonymity and autonomy would vanish if you,
what, MADE people reply?
We would need mingle police, what would
the punishment be for failing to post a
reply in the religion section?

Nail me now.

The only feedback you are going to get for any kind of creative writing on a site like this is, " mmmmm that's nice", which is a real good boost to your ego but does nothing to help you grow as a writer or poet.

If you want real feedback, start sending things to a book editor or publisher, or take some classes at the university level.

Unless you're in a clique here where friends routinely post back and forth their postings, you can assume that no one was moved enough by your poem to leave a comment. If that's the case, suck it up, and take that poem back to the drawing board, and maybe come back next time with something better. If you haven't realized it yet, this board is more of a place of vanity than a place to advance craft. People aren't obligated to leave comments, and it's definitely not a place to get feedback to advance craft. If you want a real critique of your poem, I suggest getting thicker skin and reaching out to a poetry workshop where craft matters. Otherwise, let your poetry fall off the page if people want it to.

Hmmm...I don't write for feedback...I write to share...

collated into one thread...years of moments....not scattered to the winds prolifically, never to be seen again...

I have one thread, with everything in it...

I don't want feedback, I don't look for it....what I offer is a moment between the in and the out breath, to perhaps AFFECT someone..

and usually they respond in a beautiful elegance of words themselves...magical.

For about five years on here,,i have wondered the same and never have put a finger on the perfect science of it,,but it does help to be known through other members,,and it depends greatly on who happens to all be on reading when your poem is on the front page?
Thats my REAL for ya...as for just poping in here and thinking everyone is going to read and reply to ANY write or poem,,,No,,,UNLESS,,,your really HOT and half naked,,THEN,,oh HELL YES,,,,THAT holds true to men and women on here,,,Theres much to be said for the pic that runs with the words,,,,,laugh laugh

Good Luck.....and PLEASE,,,leave your clothes on,,,,laugh jk..

EDIT:
)I posted something that was not
funny on subsequent readings, and I
did not nail you, so I took it out.
It would have hurt my own literary
pride, if I left it in.(

In real life it's my nose that runs with my words. The girls around here usually pick some more feminine naked thing to run with, and anatomically more appropriate to do it with, like their toes or stockings.

Ah, so it's YOU with the naked toes on that picture.

I always thought toes make you look ten years younger when naked.

It's all a case of Potato's ^.^

You could tell the chef that they were good, but he'd know by the clean plate you had enjoyed them.

You could tell him they were bad, but the potatos still on the plate tell him they were bad.

And just to confuse you all.

I think leaving constructive critisism, is always a fair way to comment.

Almost across the board there is an average of 20 views per reply. Figured that one out a few years back. (cept for politics and religion threads...those people run thier mouths incessantly.)

Yes, people in "cliques" tend to have more replies. To me, "clique" is a group of friends. You meet people here, become friends then yes,....you talk to yor friends.

Lots of members just ghost the threads...reading but not replying. I have been contacted privately many times by people who read my stuff but didn't want to reply publicly for various reason.

I often blow right past many topics when I pop in...figure out after the first two lines that I aint interested enough to respond then mosey on to the next thread.

Rarely it's personal...someone p!ssed you off and you just aint gonna give em the time of day let alone waste your time replying to someone you just aint gonna get along with.

But, the more you hang out and the more people get to know you, then more people will pop in when they see your name.
