i can honestly say when a christian ask me if i'm one and i tell them i'm an atheist, after saying ok 5 times in a row they become speechless, but yet i can go on carrying a conversation but they seem to not talk as much or give me the cold shoulder.it's almost as if they expect everyone to be a christian or in some deity drivin cult.

I'm sorry you have had to be faced with this. But that is not "Christian". That is an individual that is actually going against what we have been told, they would be in the wrong there. And again, sorry you have come across someone such as this.

Christian love is some scary business. I am not sure that I would want Christians loving me at any level or type for that matter.

They love you and wish hell on you at the same time.surprised

They pray for you and scold you for your non Christian life in the same breath.

Their love has so many "conditions" that the feeling of love is hard to feel.

And it has been so accepted in this country that people actually believe it is love they are sharing..slaphead I think the participants of the religion believe it is love too.slaphead

On the surface it is the lure of some loving concept but after that first layer peels back, look out, fear, guilt and hypocrisy is the name of the game.

They love you and wish hell on you at the same time.

Who wishes hell on anyone?

Luke 6:37 (King James Version)

37Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

We do not wish hell on anyone, that is quite possibly the reasoning of us informing someone of the knowledge we possess of God.

They pray for you and scold you for your non Christian life in the same breath.

Again, no scolding. Merely informing you of the mistakes one sees lending a helping hand.

This is sort of the whole point, your belief system brainwashes you into thinking that anyone who thinks different from you won't be saved. And it's that type of thinking and intoning that people quite rightly take issue with.

How would you like if I told you that YOU would go to hell if you didn't believe what I do? Think about that, put the shoe on the other foot for a second.

Almost all evil will claim to be helping you out in some way.

There is no lending a helping hand in the information shared from those who are trying to woo you into their fantasy of guilt, fear and hypocrisy.

First of all, no one knows who will or won't burn in the lake of fire. Only Jesus holds that judgment, only he knows. Secondly, if you felt that way and told me, I would talk with you and possibly get a deeper understanding of your spiritual belief/stance. Wouldn't take it offensive, nothing would be gained by in doing so. That would be your belief/opinion and we all know what opinions are like....

Who's trying to woe anyone? Thought we were just having a discussion between our different spiritual beliefs, didn't know it was a competition or a recruit attempt. Cause if that's true, then all your trying to do is woe the other into your beliefs. If it's seen as one side trying to woe the other to their beliefs, it stands that way for both sides. For again, we're just all here having a DISCUSSION on our different spiritual beliefs.

Yup, religions are opinions, you are right. Religious rhetoric is opinions, you are right. Beliefs are opinions, you are right.

So why do some present their religious rhetoric as though it is right for everyone when it is just a damn opinion?
