Topic: Thy Will Be Done | |

One of the last things Jesus said on the cross was, "Not my will but thine be done." I have been able to use that in my line of work. The 97 year old diabetic resident was given cake for her birthday. So her sugar level was real high. The nurse was able to bring the sugar level back to normal but not before the resident and me had a clash of wills. Tonight at our AA meeting we went over the 11th step. So I was able to make the connection of,"Not our will but thine be done." And not just, "Not my will but thine be done." I believe that God's will can be greater than just one's person's will.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit”, says the Lord (Zech. 4:6)

I agree completely! Not only is God's will the only thing that matters, we don't even get to know what it is. Insisting on our will is paramount to self-idolatry and we all know that we can not serve two masters. It is our duty do submit humbly to God's will even when it is contrary to what we think is in our own best interest. Often, it seems, it isn't but there's always a door opened that we never even saw. Thanks for bringing this up!
