Topic: Having Preferences vs Being Shallow

I prefer not to be shallow but I find people with different preferences. Sometimes it is simpler just to be shallow to get along with some people. It is like they might think that you are overlooking the obvious. But then again sometimes I overlook the obvious. Sometimes it helps to be shallow for it helps me to keep it simple. I am part of a simple program made for complicated people. Simple and easy can be construed sometimes as the same thing but they can be different for the deep minded individual who can see things at more than one level of perception. But then again reality can be so blinding when we are in a mood not conducive to learning. It is not always easy to be aware of all that goes around one. We can miss the subtle differences, for example, those in color.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say it's simpler to be shallow to get along with some people.

Some people like the short answer. For example, if you are given a question that is meant to be answered with just a yes or no. While one may be still ruminating about what you were asked the one who asked the question has already moved on to a different topic and you can wonder why they asked you the question as it could be they were just being shallow.

So, you consider giving a yes/no answer to be shallow?

And I also agree with the last part about calling someone shallow
'm thinking that what you refer to as shallow may just be, "Haven't thought about it that much". That isn't a crime

Didn't you say that already? Then when I replied, you complained that I was arguing. laugh

To you, what is the difference between someone having preferences and someone being shallow? What do you think makes someone shallow?

-I don't think being "shallow" is a bad thing. If you say you only date people of a certain age, weight, race, education, etc. etc. people say "Oh, that's shallow; you're depriving yourself of someone really awesome! You should look at what's on the inside, we're all people, looks don't matter, blah blah BLAH" Um, no, because if they're not what I want, they're not awesome to ME, and I'm under no obligation to date anyone if they're not appealing to me.

Does it bother you when you don't fit into someone's preferences?

-I don't fit into most people's preferences, then again, most people don't fit into mine either. To answer the question, no, it doesn't bother me at all. No one is obligated to date anyone. Thank god.

What kind of preferences do you have when it comes to dating? Are you willing to change your mind on those preferences, depending on the person you're getting to know?

-I have a long list which I won't post here because it's irrelevant. No, I'm not willing to change my mind.

Shallow ones are more flexible & aeasily djustable to situations in life. The one who considers themself being very choosy about everything creates nothing but complications in ur life
( yeah...thats true)

What do you think makes someone shallow?

It depends on exactly to what do u reffer as shallow.

If it do mean a person who gladly accepts anything in life, then it is due to the lack of fighting spirit & ambition in them.

Does it bother you when you don't fit into someone's preferences?

Who cares....!!!
I always believe,Try fullfilling expectations of others than expecting anything from others.

Why to run behind the someone when others are waiting for u eagerly????

What kind of preferences do you have when it comes to dating?

I'm not intersted in dating with anybody.

Are you willing to change your mind on those preferences, depending on the person you're getting to know?

I'm interested in knowing variety of persons & for that I dont have any prefrences. The more variety of people I got to know, the broader my senses grow!!!

Wish u all the best daters!!

I think you have a very different idea of what shallow is than everyone else.

Shallow, to me, is someone who claims they want one thing, but toss it to the side of the road when someone cute comes along, even if that person doesn't meet what preferences the person might have wanted.

I don't really believe my preferences are shallow, even though I know people who think it is, and I've gotten griped out for it. I've figured out my preferences over the years, because I've learned what I want, and what I'm willing to allow for.

the Urban Dictionary sez shallow = judging based purely on physical appearance.

I dont think preferences are shallow its just a perosnal like..

I have definate preferences.

I would never even consider anyone for more than a friend if they,
Drank, used drugs, had ever played up on their partners yelled, or had ever hit a woman,

None of these would be negotiable, dealt whit it all before and would rather jump off a cliff then deal with it again.

I think a preference for a particular look becomes shallow when it becomes more important than deeper personality traits.

So if you are dating a woman who is a complete biotch because she she is hot.....your are shallow.

I do not think there is anything shallow about having prefences, even if it includes a person exterior. Looks are important to some people, I don't think it makes them shallow.

Shallow to me is someone who has no depth in their own personality. Someone who expects everything from their partner but has no output. If your preferences are lengthy and particular than you should also be willing to put out the same expectations of your partner.

People who have a preference of wealth--this is not a personal(physical or mental) trait, therefore (TO ME) constitutes as shallow.

There could be a guy I'm very attracted to, but has a horrible personality, is mean or arrogant or something along those lines. If I chose the looks over the horrible personality, I would consider that shallow.
