Scarefest 2011 September 23-25. Lexington. Ky. Any true horror fans going? Sweet...while all the true horror fans are in Kentucky I'm going to raid their collections. Well, if you raid mine take them as they are. In their original packaging. Unopened. Along with my posters and comics that are in pristine condition. If I see them on ebay. I'll buy them back...haha |

HIGH TENSION Note: Watch the original unedited French film. Some copies have English subs. It is definitely better than the English dubbed version that had a lot of scenes edited aside from the dialogues. French first-time feature director Alexandre Aja's blood-drenched, back-to-basics slasher film opens with a battered young woman in a hospital gown, muttering "I will never let anything come between us again" under her breath like a desperate mantra. The red light of a video camera interrupts her reverie: "Is it recording?" she asks, and plunges into the nightmarish events that brought her to her bare hospital room. Needing to cram for exams, tomboyish Marie (Cecile de France) and hard-partying Alex (Maiwenn le Besco), college classmates and close friends, decide to study at the isolated farmhouse where Alex's parents live. There's nothing to do, nowhere to go and no one to distract them from their work except the monstrous serial murderer (I STAND ALONE's Philippe Nahon) who comes to the door the night the girls arrive. The phone lines have been cut, there are no neighbors and Alex lies gagged and hog-tied in the back of the killer's rusted, blood-smeared van, her photo already added to the chilling montage of girl's faces decorating the sun visor. But resourceful Marie refuses to abandon Alex to her awful fate: "Those other girls were alone," she whispers. "There are two of us." Nice story with an even nicer twist to the ending. Definitely something every horror fan would enjoy. Lots of blood to satisfy even Dracula himself, so hold on to your seats and have your umbrellas ready. :) |

So how many of those are you going to buy? Very few, most are straight to DVDs I've never heard of, or re releases of films I'm not interested in, or already own...but I do want to see Spine Tingler: The William Castle Story I'll probably rent The Nesting, and Nightmares I wouldn't mind owning. |

they're still making hellraiser movies?... i stopped watching when they were on the spaceship... That's when I stopped watching too. What's weird is they're still making sequels, and there's a remake being made...same with Children Of The Corn, there was a remake a couple of years ago, and sequels are still being made to the original. |

Recommended movie:
I Saw the Devil This gruesome revenge thriller stars Lee Byung-hun as a government agent who takes the law into his own hands when his fiancée becomes the latest victim of vicious serial killer Choi Min-sik. After tracking down and torturing the psychopath, Lee then lets him go and sets about hunting him down again… and again. Each “capture” is punctuated by increasingly stomach-churning violence, leaving the authorities with the headache of bringing two maniacs to justice. Although director Kim Ji-woon's inventive twist on the vigilante shocker is relentlessly bloodthirsty, it never loses sight of the human fallout from violent crime, deftly weaving Lee's eye-for-an-eye actions with moments of genuine emotional grief. Choi, so powerful himself as a man obsessed with vengeance in Oldboy, plays the ruthless and conscience-free murderer with chilling detachment, creating a memorable modern-day movie monster. |

Highly recommended movie!
THE CHASER (IMDb)Joong-ho is a dirty detective turned pimp in financial trouble as several of his girls have recently disappeared without clearing their debts. While trying to track them down, he finds a clue that the vanished girls were all called up by a same client whom one of his girls is meeting with right now. I have never watched a horror movie as intense as this one! After the last scene and the credits rolled, all I could utter under my breath was...Wow! If you read the plot synopsis, it isn't much to look at and I even had my doubts. As the story unfolded, I was entranced! This is NOT your typical horror movie where you can, most of the time, predict what's going to happen next. This film does not follow the usual linear movements horror films take! It will make every unpredictable turn you can possibly think of and more. I am betting that mainstream Hollywood will be making their version of this movie, though I surely doubt they will be able to capture the palpable emotions of this film. Definitely recommended to anyone who loves the genre! A must watch! |
