But the good adaptations of King's books are great movies, some of the moves have become classics. After recently rereading Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption I found myself missing things that were in the movie but not in the book. Yes there are some stinker adaptations and when they suck they suck hard, but considering the number of books he's had adapted he's been pretty lucky. Love Shawshank Redemption! I have to watch that again. It's been a long time since I last saw it. And of course you are right about that. The ratio can be a hit or miss, but the good ones always become great iconic movies. :) I'm reading Different Seasons again, the first story being Shawshank, many of the iconic moments from the film aren't in the book- Andy(Robbins) playing the record, Brooks the old librarian trying to survive outside(his character in the book is actually 2 combined), also the book goes through several wardens, and you don't have the same finale with the warden in the book like the move. I'm now on the second story- Apt Pupil. |

Guess we can't really be surprised, but someone has made a copy of Zombieland but with vampires Stake Land, even the title is "original".
In the aftermath of a vampire epidemic, a teen is taken in by a grizzled vampire hunter on a road trip through a post-apocalyptic America, battling both the bloodsuckers and a fundamentalist militia that interprets the plague as the Lord's work. |

Plasterhead (2006)
Every town has a local legend. Not all of them are deadly. Headed to Miami to celebrate winter break, a group of four college students from New Jersey take a detour into the bowels of rural West Virginia. There, the unwitting friends uncover a grotesque legend that stains the fabric of Rolling Glen, a sleepy backwoods town: the legend of Ray Williams, a black truck driver from Maine, on his way to Texas to make a delivery, brutally beaten by a band of locals after stopping off in town for a drink, his body left for dead in an empty cornfield and never found. They learn of crooked sheriff Earl Taggart, who helped acquit the locals involved in the attack, and who still lords over the small village with an iron fist. Fifteen years later, whispers of the Williams incident still float through the tired walls and eaves of Rolling Glen. As the four friends quickly find out, some believe Williams still roams the woods on the outskirts of town. |

The Unseen
Freelance reporter Jennifer and her two friends, Karen and Vicki, accept an invitation for cheap room and board in a large farmhouse offered by a friendly, but shady, museum owner named Ernest Keller since all the motels in and around town are booked for a holiday parade fair Jennifer is covering. But unknown to the women, some unseen "thing" has been living in the basement of the house for over 20 years and is looked after by Keller and his shy sister Virginia, in which the "thing" soon gets out and begins harassing and killing the women one by one in various violent, but seemingly accidental, means. |

I have a soft spot for this movie, partly because it did freak me out as a kid. |

Which of the movies did you like? Not like?

I wasn't crazy with any one of them, but I didn't hate them either. I kind of like The Supernaturals because of the story, mostly. The Phantom of the Ritz, I only liked the nice cars in the beginning. haha. The Unseen has a good ending. Plasterhead was too cheesy and bad in a lot of places.
Oh, I haven't posted one I've seen. It's a recent horror called Husk. It involves a scarecrow and I actually enjoyed it. They gave a new twist on the scarecrow story and I liked it. A bit original and even if it involved teens, they were pretty good and you get to empathize with their characters as you go deeper into the movie. |

Husk A group of friends stranded near a desolate cornfield find shelter in an old farmhouse, though they soon discover the dwelling is the center of a supernatural ritual. A new horror movie in a long time. The presence of the scarecrow alone would have warranted a reason for me to watch it, and I am glad I did. While it wasn't the greatest horror movie of all time and though I wished for some scenes to have had more development, I really liked the somewhat original concept this movie came up with regarding its use of the scarecrow. Would recommend this movie. :) |

Just finished watching:
American Zombie Tells the story of two Los Angeles filmmakers who set out to document a group of high-functioning zombies and their struggles to gain acceptance in human society. After weeks of following four charismatic characters, the filmmakers gain permission to shoot at a three-day, zombies-only retreat where the documentary takes an unexpected--and dangerous--turn. |

Looks promising. I like the first 2 Jeepers Creepers. Also nice to see Gina Philips and Ray Wise being brought back. |
