Its not necessary that the person lied. Its quite possible that some people in jail still manage to do DISHONEST things? Like get access to telephones they shouldnt have?

because people DO something doesnt mean the rules permitted them to, it just means they found a way

I dont know about you, but I can have dairy queen or red lobster whe I feel like it, I doubt prisoners can

I can go out and get fresh air WHEN I FEEL LIKE it, I doubt prisoners can

I can see sunsets and sunrises, I doubt Prisoners can

I can go to sleep without worrying about being RAPED because I may have got caught stealing or doing drugs, I doubt Prisoners can


one NEWS story about ONE person with a cell phone hardly qualifies as some proof of the luxuries of prison

I so agree with this. I did that to a child of my own, once I was told by the police I could and it not be abuse. So why do the prisoners get so much "freedom"?

try living in four concrete walls in the summertime and tell me you dont need AC to survive?

try living in below freezing temperatures and say you dont need heat to survive?


why do people on the streets DIE in the winter and in the hot summers, because the body DOES need a certain amount of temperature regulation..... just being 'indoors' doesnt always do quite enough to provide that

these people broke the law, sure, but MOST are not violent offenders so why should they be treated like complete crap, as if those on the 'outside' dont EVER break and bend rules,,,,


I dont think TECHNOLOGY like cable or internet or cell phones is necessary and is a privilege that those in jail dont need to have, but Im sure that is an exception and not the rule when it happens and Im sure prison still remains pretty much a crappy place to have to be

Not trying to disagree here, however I do have experience with this issue. My ex husband was in a State prison and now he is in Federal prison. He himself will tell you, life there is way better than on the outside.

not trying to be offensive, but addicts will tell you partying is better than not

if he thinks life there is better, than its more likely because of how much his life SUCKED than how great it is in prison

He works six hours a day, gets to play the rest of the time.
He gets a monthly check and has to pay no bills. Why do WE pay them to be there and they don't have to pay a dime? We have a son and the funny thing is, he will NEVER have to pay child support. It is NEVER considered back child support as long as he is there.

I think their life in those cells are way better than the outside world. What could suck about it? They get food, clothing, housing, showers, electricity, cable, internet, volleyball, football, and most live a better life than 25% of us civilians who work for everything.

what could suck about it? how about the constant fear of rape or death? how about a day regimented to the minute by someone else? how about never seeing the sunrise or sunset or a million other things we hard working civilians get to take for granted? How about rarely if EVER having time with the people you love or with anyone who gives a damn about you?

food? three slop plates a day
clothing? an orange jumpsuit
housing? four concrete walls, a bunk bed shared with god knows whom and a TOILET that sits in the same spot you sleep
showers and electricity(as opposed to allowing them to become dirty and diseased)
cable, internet(limited, if at all)
volleyball and football(are you talking about the PRISON yard? oh what a relaxing and entertaining luxury....)


I think people believe too much propoganda, if this deal really seems so great to people, they should enlist in the SERVICE

they need a few more people, plus they pay for your schooling and you can actually LEAVE and see your loved ones quite regularly as well as spend your AMPLE paycheck on whatever luxuries you wish

and there is not someone else regulating your every movement 24/7

and if you dont wish to live on base, you dont HAVE to and can actually live in a space of your OWN

and there is not QUITE the same risk of being killed or raped when you are sleeping......

They do not have to deal with everyday situations. I have no sympathy for their fear! Really you do???

Why are they there in the first place. Hmmm......Who did they scare? Who feared them? They chose that life, just like we chose to be better than that.

The human body an mind are capable of doing alot.
First off. If the shelter they are given is a tent out side.
Then no they dont need ac. If were they are shelterd is in a hot climate then no they dont need heat.

The shelter should be just enough for the climate they are in.
Same with the clothing.
I have no love loss for those who break the law.
It was there choice to do an it an the got caught.
I see no reason were they should have a better life then an honest person trying to do right.

I see no logical argument that a life in a 6*6 concrete room with bars and a toilet is by any means BETTER than so called 'honest' people on the outside,,,

or that being HONEST has anything to do with not being in jail

It is not what I "think". It is what I know and have been told by someone that has and still does, live the life.

There is no strong debate with you since you only speak what you read and hear on this subject. I respect you as a fellow mingler and I have always loved to read what you write, you usually speak in great depth and knowledge.

Should have never happened. Prisoners are not allowed on the internet. Cellphones are contraband

I am sure that the prisoner was saying all those things to stop people from seeing him as stupid for being in jail. Trying to make himself look like he is "workin" it.

It is sad to see him do that actually

I would think that that really means something is not right with the ex, wouldn't you?

What's to doubt?..they even get free medical care when people who are good law abidding citizens are being told by Obama "Pay all these high medical expenses when you can barely afford to live as it is or I will make you pay one way or another."

I know people who have done time....I don't know any people who intentionally got them self locked up for 3 meals and medical care.
That is why I doubt that statement.
