What makes you.......?

Salty: intentional cruelty of any kind...PERIOD!

Sweet: my own judgement checked (ie...seeing what I thought were teenage "punks" help an old lady across the street)

I am always sweet, but disrespect me and piss me off and I will become saltier than the Atlantic Ocean.

Was in line to pay a bill last week when I glanced back at At a young urban thug dressed black dude with his grandm and there was a well dressed elderly black man behind them....after a couple of minutes..a really young (13-14 year old) came in and slipped past the elderly fellow and said "Hows it going Grampa?"

The thug jumped that kid's @$$. "THAT MAN IS YOUR ELDER AND YOU WILL SHOW HIM RESPECT!" Followed with a good slap across the back of his head.

The kid immedieately apologized and everyone of us in that line were grinning ear to ear. I threw the guy a peace sign with the man style head bob of acknowledgement.

Kind of made me remember that looks aint everything.

KILLER DUDE!!

These kids were "wannabe" 13-14yo pasty white THUGS walking up the street in a rich beach community with their $600 surf boards. They had all the obvious hand gestures probably learned from the movie "Colors".

...an obviously confused senior in the foreground, me speeding up to get there before them. You can imagine the thoughts.

The "shift" in gentleness as they set down their boards and helped that old lady into her retirement home, leaves a lump in my throat to this day.

There is a homeless guy in town I have known
since I met him on the beach 9 years ago.
I save all my cans and bottles for him.
And he can always get a sandwich from me,
very nice guy, with a dog to feed.

When my ex tried to recruit Eddie to help him
steal $100K worth of my belongings, he offered
Eddie his choice of the goods and cash to help
him move it all out of storage.
Eddie refused.
The man has no income, lives on food stamps.
He would have been set for a long time.
But he refused to help, he has such a deep sense
of right and wrong.
I admire him very much, I tell him every time
I see him.
He swells up, and you can see he is proud.
I call him friend.

Great! Now I feel low for being a characterless douche and buying girlscout cookies with fake $20's and demanding my change.

As a whole, I am very polite and kind,,everyday..pretty much w/o exceptions,,,now,,if someone is rude,,I can be right back rude,,,if they get in my face,,we are NOT a happy camper,,
But as for others and like some have mentioned,,,When we witness an act that surprises us,,,thats very COOL,,,and its even cooler,,to LET THE ONE WHO ACTED,,,KNOW THEY DID IT RIGHT BY YOU,,,
Sometimes we see much and say nothing,,and many times it so greatly helps ANY who see that praise extended,,,to KNOW-IT,,and want to BE MORW THAT WAY themselves...
I talk on my CB everyday,,and it allows me to voice that kind of togetherness and unity that every American should have for each other,,,
FOLKS,,IF we lose ALL RESPECT for each other on this earth,,we should just board up our homes and live alone in our fears..

Take time to MAKE A STRANGER SMILE,,to HELP a friend, TO GIVE A COUPLE BUCKS FOR A FOOD BANK OR CHURCH....Near YOU....

MANY PEOPLE are HURTING right now,,who have lost hope for a better life someday....I will ALWAYS PASS-IT FORWARD, and TRY,,,to be a Better man and person...
OK,,,let me step down off my soap-box...drinker
