Awesome news. lovelybaker4u. I have warn you now that the work can be addictive and that caring for people can reap you great rewards. I call it nursing home magic. It is amazing how it can help you to see things in life that before you might not have been aware of. I have had a lot of personal growth because of the caring profession. It has made more than once take a long look at the way I have viewed things. I hope you will enjoy the classes and will not be too nervous for the clinical tests. Keep telling yourself that you can do this and when you are in front of the state tester just realize all they want to know is that you can do your job.

I am nervous about almost everything at this point. I am worried that I will not be able to keep up with all the work I have to do. Because I have to take care of my kids as well. Thank you for the support though.

even a single parent can go to school and be a full time mom
its hard work but it can be done

my daughter i might as well say she was single even though she was married to my grandkids dad (divorced now)
she worked full time took care of the kids and even went to school part time.. she did all this without her ex hubby help.
he never did a thing
when my parents were msrried my dad was hardly ever around so my mom was both parents and she took charge of me and my sisters plus she was a girl scout leader and managed to take care of the rentals.
hey if my daughter and my mom could do it.... then you should be able as well.

i was also a single parent and i might as well say even when i was married to my son dad i felt like i wasent..
my family help me when i needed the help

Hang in there, you can do it! Just keep telling yourself that this is only a temporary situation and when you finish the classes and get your CNA certification it will be well worth it! You are opening the door for so many opportunities when you choose a career in healthcare, you go girl!!

that's true..caring for someone gives you the high feeling..making them comfortable, alleviating their pain,.listening to their stories eventhough it is repeated makes them happy.knowing that someone is there for them and they're not alone...

My six year old is already she wants to be a doctor and she says that she is going to be just like me. She has no idea C.N.A and Doctors are very different. My nerves seem to be getting worse.

Well I had my first class and this is going to be crazy! I had an 8 hour class and came home had 2 chapters to read 23 pages in a work book and 100 short hand words I have to know by heart by my first clinical and that is not this Thursday but the one after that. But it wasn't to bad I got home and did my normal stuff and then after the kids went to bed I got started on my homework and here it is now 5 hours from when I started and I have most of it done. (Just not the knowing the short hand by heart.)

Hang in there, you can do it! It will get easier as things start to
"gel". It's all about caring for people that can no longer care for themselves and helping them with their daily activities (adls)

With clinicals there is usually an aide that "mentors" you to make sure you don't make mistakes, they just can't "throw you on the floor" and expect you to take care of someone (at least in most places ohwell ), the facility is legally responsible for you.
You'll do great...........just have to have the frame of mind that you are caring for someone and it is someones mother/father treat that person like you would your grandmother................

I did ok I think but did not get to do much because state came in today noway so my teacher told us if state was in our hall to back up and let our aide do it all.

I am glad you passed. The first time I took the test I did okay on the written exam but messed up on hair and nail care. I know. How do you mess up on that? This is my 5th year being a CNA and it just keeps on getting better. Back in the 80's I was an orderly. I still learn a lot from doing the orientations. I used to get so nervous with the residents but now it is like old hat. It is the best job I ever had.
