I have been looking for a few months now and I can not find what I need. I am looking for someplace to help pay for the training. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find something like that in Wichita Kansas.

Check with all the local "long term care" (nursing homes) in your area and you will find that they either do, or can refer you to which of the ones do give the CNA schooling/classes free as part of yourhire. I took them here in Colorado through one of the nursing homes and was paid a regular pay check while going through the classes, clinicals and state testing for licensing...then upon licensing went to work on the wards and never missed a beat in pay coming in. So, start calling around and jsut ask who gives the CNA clases free as part of the hire process...and you'll find what you want.
Best wishes and God's blessing,

Yeah, the nursing home is your best bet. They started us out as IRCA's where I work and then moved to NA's. Then we went to take the two week class to get the CNA license. I wonder if they have the IRCA program at other places. (Indirect Resident Care Assistants)

You can also check with job traning centers & colleges. They can help direct you to funding & grants, etc. If you have a workforce in your area they will sometimes help fund job training.

Where I live they have classes at the local community colleges and the classes are not very expensive.

Maybe your state employment agency has information about this.

We get our recertification through Prometrics.

http://www.prometric.com/default.htm

You might see if you can pass the exam right from there.

There is the one for Arkansas. Just key in your state.

And you will not find one but here you might have to go.

Here in Michigan we have a program called Michigan Works. They paid for my CNA training and continue to help me find a job in my area. Check your "State of" website you might find something there. Good luck!

Maybe you can get a grant such as the pell grant I think it is, or maybe FAFSA? Not sure if that's just for college, but worth looking into atleast.

I applied for a pell grant and all was going well they even knew that I have yet to finish my ged and now they want my transcripts. Why is this when it is only a class? Plus this class you do not need to have a ged or diploma.

Awesome news. lovelybaker4u. I have warn you now that the work can be addictive and that caring for people can reap you great rewards. I call it nursing home magic. It is amazing how it can help you to see things in life that before you might not have been aware of. I have had a lot of personal growth because of the caring profession. It has made more than once take a long look at the way I have viewed things. I hope you will enjoy the classes and will not be too nervous for the clinical tests. Keep telling yourself that you can do this and when you are in front of the state tester just realize all they want to know is that you can do your job.

I am nervous about almost everything at this point. I am worried that I will not be able to keep up with all the work I have to do. Because I have to take care of my kids as well. Thank you for the support though.
