Obama toasts 'season of progress' after big wins
WASHINGTON – Buoyant in political victory, President Barack Obama on Wednesday wrapped up a long, rough year in Washington by rejoicing in a rare, bipartisan "season of progress" over tax cuts, national security and civil justice. Halfway through his term, he served notice to his skeptics: "I am persistent." The president who strode on stage for a news conference cut a remarkably different figure than the Obama who, just seven weeks ago, held a similar event in which he somberly admitted he had taken a "shellacking" in the midterm elections and needed to re-evaluate. This time, Obama was about to jet off to a Hawaiian holiday vacation knowing he had secured the kind of legislative wins that rarely come so bundled as they just did, particularly in a postelection lawmaking session. Obama spoke on the same day that he found enough allies in both parties to get Senate ratification of a nuclear arms treaty with Russia, a vote watched around the world as a test of international security and presidential clout. He also signed landmark legislation to allow gays to serve openly in the military, calling himself overwhelmed by the enormity of the moment. And that was on top of other achievements, including a hard-fought deal to extend tax cuts and unemployment insurance even as it piled on more debt, a broad food security bill, a trade deal with South Korea and declarations of progress in the widening war in Afghanistan. "If there's any lesson to draw from these past few weeks, it's that we are not doomed to endless gridlock," Obama said. "We've shown in the wake of the November elections that we have the capacity not only to make progress, but to make progress together." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_obama;_ylt=AhAjcmr72quWVnvl9ir..siMwfIE;_ylu=X3oDMTJtdW84MGNiBGFzc2V0Ay9zL2FwL3VzX29iYW1hBGNjb2RlA21wX2VjXzhfMTAEY3BvcwMxBHBvcwMxBHNlYwN5bl90b3Bfc3RvcmllcwRzbGsDb2JhbWF0b2FzdHNz Obama is the workingest President I've seen in my life. What a concept!Instead of locking Republicans out of meetings, calling them names, and telling them to get in the back of the bus you actually try working with them!Damn Obama you finally figured it out!!!!!!!It only took you two years to get your head out butt and to learn the word COMPROMISE. I seriously don't see why you people are having orgasms over Obama's bill passings. The only people happy about DADT be repealed are the gays and it could have serious problems with members of our military. Obama or the Democrats never wanted those tax cuts to be extended,he wanted them to end.Everyone knows that.It was the Republicans who fought hard to get those tax cuts extended and I am not giving Obama ANY credit for the tax credits getting extended. If you want to give credit to anyone give it to the Republicans. People are happy Obama has finally accomplished something after two years of total failures.I can see why they would be happy.Their expectations of Obama are so low now just having him speak into a microphone is a accomplishment. |

to deem something positive, is to first be negative, and deem many OTHER THINGS AS NEGATIVE...
only WHAT WISHES TO PROVE WHAT ITSELF FIRST WISHED AND SOUGHT TO BE TRUE, TRYING TO PROVE IT TO ITSELF, believes in negative or positive... totally shows maximum bias towards any words outside the self like and self agenda of oneself. that which deems anything POSITVE, IS A NEGATIVE PERSON, seeing many things negative but what they WANT TO BE TRUE, SO LIVE IN DELUSIONS AS REALITY, SINCE THEY HAD FIRST "SELECTIVE HEARING". but listening for words they WANTED TO HEAR. if all life is negative and positive. and one wants to turn it all to positive. which words would one want to know the most? why the NEGATIVE OF COURSE. these stand in the way of ALL POSITIVE. so that which want to hear all positive shall turn itself into delusional zombie, and wonder why it never gets what it wants. and finds big bad surprises... for one that loves to hear NEGATIVE, AND SOLVE THESE, AS HEARING THEM AS THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ON EARTH, shall become wise. that which does not. and idiot. |

much like saying,, one who wants to make mistakes is wiser than one who gets it right, because making mistakes is how we learn
seems two extremes, those who want to hear the negative so they have something to fix and those who want to hear the positive so they can live in ignorant bliss how about those who seek a balance ,,,,where do they fall I wonder? I wonder if its the 'idiot' who seeks that,,,, |

I personally don't care if President Obama gets the highest award ever awarded to a President.I am sick of this economy being in the crapper and sick of hearing bad news 24/7.I want him to accomplish things and to make this country better. If he does great things and has great ideas I will give him compliments and credit for it.I love America and want to see it great again.I want to see the economy be stronger than any others in the World.I want record job growth. If Obama does all those things then I am all for it.I don't care who does it or who gets the credit just get it done!
I'm ranting on this topic because... 1.)It was the Republicans who were pushing for the tax cuts all along and Obama getting credit for it despite his opposition to it for two years(in other words if it wasn't for the Republicans taxes would have gone to record levels). 2.)He is still farting around on stupid bills nobody really cares about. The United States economy is in critical condition and has been getting worse every month. What is Obama doing about it???Passing DADT!Passing nuclear arms treaties!Seriously these two bills are the last thing in the World the President should be worried about and working on right now.Where is his plan for the economy?Where is his plan for the jobless people?Where is his plan for the future of this country? Obama you gave the country DADT repealed that nobody really cared about except the gays and nuclear arms treaties that nobody cared about. The Republicans gave us tax cut extensions which everyone cares about, and because of that extension this economy will start getting moving again. I think Obama should step aside and let the Republicans take over for a while.Because Republicans are the ones who are listening to the people and the ones who are going to get the things done we really care about. |

Again, its 100% debatable. What one side see's as accomplishments, the other see's as failures.
Thomas3474 is correct. Obama and the Dems were all against the Bush tax issue. They fought to raise taxes, but the Republicans won that battle, and only now Obama is trying to take credit for it. |

I can help, If I recall, OBama took office in January of 2009,
tax cuts were made PERMANENT in his budget in February 2009 Below $250,000 will keep current tax rates Updated: Thursday, March 5th, 2009 | By Angie Drobnic Holan President Obama has said he would roll back the Bush tax cuts on higher incomes, meaning $200,000 in income for singles and $250,000 for couples. But he intends to leave in place the Bush tax cuts for people who make less than that. When the tax cuts were first enacted in 2001 and again in 2003, the legislation came with "sunsets," or scheduled expiration dates. Without further action, tax rates will go up for everyone in 2011; at the time it was considered a way to rein in future deficit projections. So new legislation is required to keep in place current tax rates for the lower incomes. Making the tax cuts permanent are part of the budget outline Obama presented on Feb. 26, 2009. Obama's budget outline doesn't precisely break out how much it will cost to keep the current income tax rates for lower incomes. But an analysis by the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found it would cost about $850 billion over 10 years. His budget does say how much he expects to gain from raising the rates on the higher incomes. Over 10 years, it's $338 billion in additional income taxes, and another $298 billion from reducing exemptions and deductions and increasing capital gains and dividends taxes. Congress still needs approve Obama's budget, and there will likely be arguments over many things in it. But little opposition is expected to making the tax rates permanent for the lower incomes. So for now, we're rating this promise In the Works. Sources: Office of Budget and Management, Budget Documents for Fiscal Year 2010 , Feb. 26, 2009 |

He wanted to end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Unfortunately, he had to let the Repubs help their friends so he could help us. |

it seems miss harmony there twould be but one most answer needed to be had to know where balance fall between the extremes two they are?
human ONLY LEARN, when they admit mistakes... can anything be learning if it be not amditting mistakes? if humans are learning all day long, something new, how many mistakes twould exist? how many redily admimt mistakes? what if there are great things at stake? would presure to NOT ADMIT, be greater as well? can anything be learning better, lest comfortable with easily redily admiting mistakes or just unknowing? are any hiding mistakes? can ANYTHING be learning if no mistakes are accused? persue to FIND mistakes, to eliminate mistakes than? to create the best reality, reaveal mistakes, uncover, admmit, move on to better reality? |

the point?
i point no other to THEIR OWN point? the meaning of each thing the reader extracts. each creating their own intelligence, of course. their own knowing. the meaning of something? up to the hearer in all cases. it is most in these cases those that are used to telling others the meanings of all things, for them, that ask the "point" of anything. in such cases, this shows a inclination to believe all others should define all things the same way oneself does. this would show a lack of belief or resect of value of other ouside ideas as valuable or with any merit. hence, the term "the point" having come to be used within those that in these situations have no pleasure from increasing any knowing, but rather seek outside data alone for sake of confirmations of what self already knows... this would in these situations present the question to be asked, to increase the total sum of knowing which is intelligence? is data actually being taken into and past the frontal lobes to be assimilated? it does seem science has proven that for assimilation to occur, the ability to draw both positive and negative data as equal is of the utmost critical nature to increase the total sum of any knowing possessed by human man. very interesting point, that you point the way to dearest ms harmony, and a rather interesting one to me i might say, if you can tell, since my field of studies be precisly in the brain sciences... truly an amazing point you made. and an excellent one. it seems critical to notice, that only one that wants meanings told to them, could fall prey to belief in but words from "feelings" enduced by them, which shall naturally create a emotional trigger to "many words as negative", more than just words that may cause bodily harm to another, but even these needed to be known, so than a positive to hear them... hum... such things would seem to proclude the maximum use of logical deducted facts, and rather the opt for "feelings" created by data heard, instead of reality, which would seem in all cases reduce the ability to accurately percieve total reality, since reality is both positive and negative... interesting your topic of "the point"... the "point" also shares a lot of connection in the qauntum realm as well... it seems that only something that has not taken charge it's intelligence itself, twoudl ask for any subject matter's point to be told to oneself. to deduct. to factor. to assimilate. consider all angle's. all possibles. it is certainnly only that which truly is learing anything new at all, that comes to always know how to draws it's own accurate points, not leaving any room for error, of course, by inspeacting all it's own points and all others, not using the "feelings" to come to any final conclusion... intellect over emotion. not being told what is accurate, and what is honest, and what is fair, and what is good, and what is real, and what is true, but rather drawing from ALL POOLS AND SOURCES, than it's final sum of knowing for itself, what all things mean to itself. all it's own points from subject matter. to create it's own intelligence. the gift of human existence. |
