It's a sign generations of people may have never seen, yet Mark Prior says it's his right to discriminate. "If I've got a problem with you it's going to be on the front of my store," says Mark Prior. Prior posted his 'No Negros Allowed' sign after he says he had some problems with black people in the past and needed to make a policy against them. Federal and State law says if the business is open to the public, prohibiting people based on race is illegal. If the man's proposed gentlemen's club was going to be a private club, then an African American historian says he could discriminate. Legalities aside, his is a sign that many say is appalling. "I'm going to stick to my guns because I think I have the right as a business owner to reject service to anyone. It's not all the black people there are just a few bad ones," Prior says of his problems in the past. Prior wants to open a gentlemen's club in a building next to the Abbotsford city hall and library. He says he moved his sign inside after someone with the city asked him to remove it. "Our mistake is sometimes we look for logic in something that is just plain stupid," says Dr. Selika Ducksworth-Lawton, an African American historian at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Ducksworth-Lawton says she feels Prior is out to get attention. She says the second he opens his business, he'll be in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. from http://www.nbcactionnews.com/dpp/news/national/strip-club-owner-posts-%E2%80%9Cno-negroes-allowed%E2%80%9D-sign#viewSingle108282021 I guess sometimes people have to say it like it is to get their point across.I can understand where this guy is coming from.I have friends who have small business's and when you have groups of young blacks or Hispanics you usually have trouble.I have seen the shoplifting, the attitudes, the giving the cashier less than what they want to pay for and walking out anyways with the product, etc. Why do you think taxi cab drivers don't want to pick up Blacks or his panics?Because half the time they don't pay and they are trouble makers. You ever go into those corners stores in cities like China town where you have Asians working the counter? They see a black guy walking in they start getting really paranoid.Talk to them a few minutes after he leaves.Nothing but bad experiences. From everything from robbery to shoplifting. I can look you straight in the eye and tell you these things because Black and Hispanic stores in their neighborhoods don't want you anywhere near them. You walk into a black neighborhood and want to shop at their record store or clothing store you are going to get treated like the plague. They don't want you there.Half of the time they look at you like they want to pull your head off your body and use it as a bowling ball. You can call me what you want.If I have a choice I would rather not be around Hispanics or Blacks except in church. The church is the one place I know I will not have issues with them.Anywhere else especially in the big cities like Chicago,NYC,LA,Detroit, and others I know my white face in their neighborhood is going to be trouble. They have their parts of town and I have mine. They have their business's and clubs they go to,I have mine.I stay away from them and they stay away from me. |

wow,....just wow I speak as someone who has lived on the West and East coast and has been to every major city in America and spent the majority of my life living in big cities. My negative experiences with white people is few in far between. My negative experiences with Black and Hispanics is many. All I need to prove my point is to park my car in a Hispanic or Black part of town overnight and to come back the next morning with my window broken and my stereo stolen. You really think they are going to have the slightest concern at all for my personal property? Not a chance. |
