Kick Azz- Based on the comic book, it was truly a funny, action packed film that was more than just well made. Everything about it worked. Casting, script, music score, directing. It all flowed well. Great movie.

I thought The A-Team was the best movie from the Summer, and that says alot because I felt that Ironman 2 would be. But A-Team was a pleasant surprise. One I was happy about because I was such a fan of the TV show.

Best: Kick Azz, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Black Death

Most Fun: The A-Team, Piranha 3D, Machete

Most Disappointing: Iron Man 2, 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, A Nightmare On Elm Street remake

Of course there still a bunch I haven't seen yet, so the list can change.

I haven't seen too many movies from the past year, partly because of work, partly because lack of an internet movie service.

However, I agree that The A-Team was very well done....good casting, faithful characterizations (except for B.A. Baracus), and a good prequel storyline. I was surprised, entertained, and amused.

I also agree that Iron Man 2 was a disappointment, especially since it was the movie I had been chomping at the bit to see.

But there is one movie released at the very end of 2009 which carried over into 2010 that you may not have heard of:

Solomon Kane (based on the Robert E. Howard character)

It may not be the best movie I've seen this year, but it was a good prequel adaptation of Howard's character. Solomon Kane is often overlooked because of the success of Conan (literary, comic, and film), but many fans of Howard's work consider Soloman Kane to be his best character, having a depth that Conan lacks. In fact, the characters Kull, Conan, Bran Mak Morn, and Soloman Kane were the inspiration for Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion - a hero that is constantly reincarnated retaining most of his core qualities though form and circumstances change. Corum, Elric, Lord Erekose, and Duke Darian Hawkmoon are all characters who are the Eternal Champion. In the wake of the first release of The Lord of the Rings, Howard posthumously became the second most influential fantasy writer as authors began to emulate his style while also drawing inspiration from Tolkien.

After the success of the Lord of the Rings movies, be prepared to see more adaptations of major fantasy authors like Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone or Corum, maybe even George R.R. Martin's current novels (after all, he was a scriptwriter before going back to novels). Fantasy movies are most likely the next Superhero films for Hollywood as the look for something fresh for the big screen.
