This is a non issue, Christians put up billboards all the time telling me Jesus loves me and other nonsense.

That is in no way saying any of your beliefs are false. What if I said Gandhi loves you? Even historians believe Jesus was a real person. Was he the son of God. No one can really say. Does he love you? I dont know, but it still isn't saying your beliefs are wrong.

Christians haven't proved the existence of god, and I don't give a damn about faith or anybodies feelings. Its a myth, all religion is a myth.

Well have you heard the absents of proof is not the proof of absents? Saying that there is no proof of God so God must not exist is failed logic. I am not saying he exists mind you I am saying just that logic is flawed. Science has lots of theories on things but there is no proof that the theory is correct etc.

BTW I am not getting huffy puffy about billboards. If you want to put up an offensive bill board go ahead. What I am saying is don't pretend oh we are not being offensive. Just man up and say yea we have money and want to be a jerk. I am totally cool with that. There are plenty of religious people that are jerks.

i'm glad you see both sides, most religious people won't

I can't seem to remember Christians putting up billboards attacking other religions or Atheist.I know a church or homeless shelter will accept anyone regardless of their beliefs or who they are.Christians have a very long history of a tolerating people who despise them and rarely use the same smear tactics and hate to fight back with. The only time you hear Christians making a fuss is when they are being attacked for their beliefs and people demand they throw away everything they believe is sacred.

Board....I think a better analogy would be if Christians put up signs saying "Atheists are in denial" or something to that effect.

I wouldn't think that is right to do either.

If Atheists want to put up signs saying something about themselves....then I'm all for that.

My problem is putting down what someone believes (no matter what the belief is) and I don't pay them much attention because I don't think that highly of them. When I say them I mean the organization/individual that does it, not the whole group. I don't agree when Christians do it any more than when anyone else does it.

As far as the legalities, they have the right under the 1st amendment and I wouldn't want to take that away from anyone. I am responsible enough to ignore things like that.

Anyway.....just my thoughts on it laugh

That is exactly right!A atheist can put up a billboard saying we don't believe in God.That is their own opinion. But this billboard is put up at Christmas showing three wise men going to Jesus saying it is a myth. That is a attack on Christianity with out a doubt.

I am also wondering where these billboards are where they say Jesus loves you.I have yet to see one.I see signs on church property now and then but a full size billboard.

Get real! slaphead

I cant remember the road, but driving from Las Vegas to six flags in anaheim california there is actually a series of ten billboards each having one of the ten commandments on them,,,

There are things that scientists don't agree on. Religion is about belief (whether it's Wiccan, Christian, Atheists, etc)

They have a right to put up billboards such as this. I have the right to believe that attacking other beliefs different than yours isn't right...and I'm talking about ALL beliefs.

I have no problem with people putting up billboards about their beliefs, but they lose my respect when they go after another belief. Again I am talking about all beliefs here.

The KKK has a right to put up billboards about their beliefs, but when they attack another race/religion/whatever, then I have the right to not respect it.

Extremist pentecostals can be very mean. They would point out women at my college calling them slut prostitute hoe. Some Christians can be jerks lol.

Growing up, we celebrated Christmas. My family was and is atheist. Christmas wasn't about Jesus, but about the tree, lights, decorating, Santa Claus and dad getting in trouble and getting coal.

Christmas has gone from a rather secular view, to a shove ones religion down other peoples throats. Specifically Christianity. So, atheist groups are fighting back. I don't see any problems with it. I still celebrate. My holiday stuff is up a week before Thanksgiving.

This is a "Jesus loves you" billboard, but it's certainly anti-atheist.

Likes like saying the same thing for Ramadan and then saying especiall Muslims.
Christmas is a Christian Holiday. Sure non Christians may celebrate it in a non religious way but that makes it no less a religious holiday.

If Christmas is religious for you, then celebrate it that way. But, you have to realize that for many, it's a time for family and friends to get together and has nothing to do with religion. My family has both Christians and Jews in it and we've always celebrated Christmas, but not in a religious way.

That doesn't mean it isn't a religious Holiday. It literally means Christ Mass.

I don't understand the need to convince anyone of anything, regarding religion anyway. There is ample information available for people to make up their own minds based on family, friends, and their own degree of interest.

Personally, I think billboards should be illegal. They just ugly up the roadside.

And before it was holiday celebrating the birth of Christ, it was a pagan holiday celebrating Winter Solstice. As you can see, people celebrate it in different ways.

Oh you are wrong there. Now there was a pagan Holiday held on Dec. 25th which is the Solstice which is why the Church chose that day to be Christmas. That way it would be easier to convert the pagans, but Christmas was never a pagan holiday. What I am saying is they are two different Holidays. Anyway I am not saying there is anything wrong with you celebrating Christmas in a non-religious way. I am saying don't be angry that people are celebrating a Religious Holiday religiously.

I never once said I was angry about people celebrating Christmas as a religious holiday. Don't group everyone together that doesn't celebrate it for religious reasons.

You said you were upset people tried to "force religious views down your throat" at Christmas. That sounds bitter to me. All I am saying is its understandable seeing as it is a religious holiday.

It's like saying, man I came to this wedding to party not to have all this lovey dovey stuff crammed down my throat.

I saw them too. They were on I-15 on the way to and from Las Vegas. I guess this post has got people riled and expressing themselves......... Anybody in San Diego remember the battle of the Mt. Soladad Cross? City says it is a national monument and people say that it is a separation of church and state. It sits high above the beautiful area of La Jolla and has been there for ages and people still visit and pose for pics all around it........ I have done so myself. Lovely place........
