Jindal: Time to Stop Apologizing for America
Published November 21, 2010 Begin quote: Criticizing both the Bush and Obama administrations for failing to execute adequate domestic security policies, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal went on a tear Sunday, criticizing Washington for playing defense, relying on luck and apologizing for protecting the nation from terrorists. The federal government has to face the fact the War on Terror is about enemies who hate the U.S. way of life, not about social justice, he said. "The reality is, this isn't about people who don't have enough jobs, who don't have enough social aid, this is about fighting an enemy that hates our way of life," Jindal said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "This is a fundamental clash of cultures. ... This isn't, well, let's go and figure out a way to apologize for Americans. This isn't how we offended them because we're supporting Israel," he continued. Jindal, who has had a very public feud with the White House over the administration's handling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, added that the current president is responsible for leading the country down the wrong path. "You look at some of President Obama's writings, you look at how he talks about, 'Well, we need to understand the disadvantaged background, this is a matter of social justice and more foreign aid.' Nonsense. The analysts have looked at the terrorists that are coming at us of a disproportionate share or educated, come from privileged backgrounds," he said. But Jindal also saved criticism for former President George W. Bush, saying his administration handled Shoe Bomber Richard Reid in much the same way. In his new book "Leadership and Crisis," Jindal writes that the United States' "current therapeutic approach to national security is dangerous. I'm just not interested in empathizing with the grievances of our sworn enemies. Let's figure out where they're vulnerable and destroy them." Jindal said body searches of 6- and 12-year-old girls traveling to visit their grandparents is illogical. Instead, it's time to dip into methods that rely on information without "political correctness." "It's so hard to understand why they're so worried about the terrorists' rights and not our rights," Jindal said. "You go back to the Miranda rights for the underwear bomber. What evidence did they need? I mean they caught him with a device. What was the purpose?" Jindal said a better approach would be using information available to figure out who's most likely to strike. "I don't think it's profiling, I think it's using information we know. You look at things like, for example, you look at travel patterns, you look at how they purchased their ticket. You look at the information, the intel we've got," he said. Jindal added that so far the administration has claimed luck in stopping the bombing of Times Square, the diversion of cargo packages containing bombs and underwear bomber Umar Farouk Mutallab. "Luck is not a strategy. We need to be rooting out networks; we need to be killing these terrorists. I think the American people, when they see an administration worried about reading Miranda rights to the underwear bomber. They worry when they see an administration committed to civilian trials," he said. He went into great detail wondering why we are trying to win the hearts and minds of people who want nothing more than to kill us. The whole security fiasco at the airports while our borders remain open was discussed in detail. We need more politicians who can stand up to political correctness. Can you? |

seems like some of the people would figure out this not about terror or our safety... it is about fear and control. the more we fear, the more they can control. That's why every few years, their is another world ending crisis coming up. Terror that our government caused by their slanderous tactics and lies to other nations. We are the sheep, and they are the sheep herders....

We are the sheep, and they are the sheep herders.... If it was truly about protection, they would be doing the logical things to protect us, which they are not. There was discussion about what a better job Israel does protecting it's airline passengers for far less money and with far less political correctness. |

What is really odd is that the President is still giving the same old sound bites about "change" and "reason" that even the media who supported him knows doesn't mean anything. Also, he is still trying to sell the ideas that the only cure for anything is bankruptcy and cowing to anyone and everyone.
Very very few are still buying what he is selling. |

I agree. He pisses me off with his bipartisan crap. He needed to take the reins and do the damn thing. We could have had universal healthcare and with a better stimulus, we could have had a better economy. They did keep us out of depression though so the ones they did do helped but we needed more.
Stop the Bush tax cuts for the rich, hell the rich even say it. End the stupid faux terrorist wars. Keep up the diplomatic relationships in the world, he is doing a good job there. |

history will appreciate him They say history isn't made by historic people, it's made by history writers. Obama started out making big promises about many things and failed to honor the agreements and promises he made. In the process he has turned the left and the center from support and helped the right more than they could have imagined. He does not not appear to understand the difference between promises and action. He is so afraid of "political correctness" that he appears paralyzed from taking action on a large number of subjects from immigration to cutting government programs. These issues will be written in history. Obama's health care bill was a mistake that his party is now paying the price. Universal health care is expensive and claiming it will cost nothing to the taxpayer was one of the many promises that is now causing him to look the fool. These subjects too will go down in history. Maybe he will do something "big" in the next two years. I think he will veto anything the house does to reverse his agenda but nothing can make the Republican controlled house fund anything at all. It looks like "political correctness" will rule the last two years of his term. |

Jindal will be first in line for the new body cavity searches Jindal made a very reasonable argument for balance in favor of citizens and against "political correctness". |

We have little choice but to acquiesce to more intrusive and time consuming searches of our packages and our person in light of the very serious and real attacks on us by radical Islamic terrorists. Of course it is crazy that it has come to this: that an incredibly ignorant and backward religious fanatic community numbering in the millions of individuals worldwide can hold the world hostage and hijack our freedoms through the threat of suicide bombings and mass murder. Our only hope as a world community is to stand up against these terrorists, confront them and eliminate them as a threat. It is so obvious. And unfortunately it will impact the Muslim community the hardest because the radicals do come from within the larger Muslim community as a whole. A few very extreme and violent fervent Muslims are making it a nasty and suspicious world for everyone and particularly for their fellow Muslims who are being viewed with fear and suspicion by everyone and not without reason. The world is certainly now very attuned to the threat of radical Islam. We are all taking steps to counter the threat and live our lives without fear but with determination to preserve our freedom! You may frisky me now! |

I've always liked Jindal, too bad he lacks the political charisma at times, 2012 might not be so attainable, it's too bad.
And history will not appreciate Barack. In fact, it will appreciate Bush more. How do I know this? Because people I hear talking now actually are starting to miss the guy when compared to our current Commander in Chief. Even people at my pretty liberal college. |
