In light of all the stds out there. Is there anyone out there that believe in waiting til marriage anymore before being intimate. Or do anyone have morals anymore? I hear people just wanting to hookup. No substance but just taking chances with their lives or infecting someone else.

Why are you assuming that those who don't wait until marriage have no morals?

Hell no!

I like to have sex too much to ever get married. You wanna drop your sex life to 3 or 4 times a year....get married.

If that is what is sanctified I will give it a big fat pass.

Shshsh I test drive a car before I buy it I'm damn sure gonna find out if the sex is any good before I stay with someone that long....

Just because one enjoys sex it does not mean they don't have morals just means they know what they like and believe in being with someone that totally makes them happy........

firstly, although I have given in to temptation of the flesh in my life, I have to say that connecting that decision to morals is a no no in these threads...

I do hold the highest ESTEEM for those who wait though, and I think there is just a much more common EXPECTATION of sex in an adult relationship then there once was when it was actually stigmatized before marriage,,,,

now there is no stigma, and now it is in EVERY adult relationship we see in media and around us and so it seems like it is 'supposed' to be that way,,,,

I think people avoid protection because they feel (or want to feel) they are with someone who they can trust or because it doesnt 'feel' the same with protection,,,

I've been married once, and I would never do that again. Does that mean I should never have sex again?

I really don't see it as being about "morals" so much (I don't like the term due to its religious overtones) as it is about practicality and one's own personal preferences.

I don't think you need to be married to be in a long-term, monogamous relationship.

Marriage is a religeous state. Sex is a natural act. I'm not religeous but I am natural.

Sweetheart marriage has nothing to do with religion. You are young so it sounds like you are confused. I minister at a place where people are dying of aides and most of them say it is due to careless sex there are people out there that look very healthy with aides and no they don't have to tell you they have it.

I also think it takes away from the true meaning of love. If you don't have to wait and get to know a personmind body soul and spirit. There is no Substance. But waiting is so much better.just my feelings.

I wonder who 'sweetheart' is.

Me too. I'm not young at all...unless you're 65 or older.

I agree with the comment on test driving a car example. I don't just buy the first one I lay eyes on.

As far as sex before marriage... I know to many people who waited till they were married, had sex, decided they wanted more and ended up divorced within about 6 months to a year. They literally went nympho, and screwed every 2 legged person who would talk to them for about 3 years. Several ended up with STD's. Rather sad.

I'd rather have sex/make love to a person beforehand and make sure we are compatible, then end up miserable in a marriage, that's going to screw over both people in divorce.

KLC's comment on marriage and morals, sex and morals, is spot on. One woman, while pregnant, ended up with an STD because her "loving" husband went and boinked a couple of random women, and brought it back home. He considered himself a good moral person, of course.

Well, marriage has nothing to do with that though. Two random strangers can get married in Vegas one night, just to say they are married and free to have sex. Doesn't mean they know each other, body, soul, spirit, etc.

Randomly falling into bed with someone isn't smart, but working on a relationship together before sleeping with someone doesn't require marriage, it just requires a committed relationship.

I agree, I think we have many issues in our culture because people either make sex some unchangable constant in their relationship( a truly GOOD sexual partner is one who LEARNS what works with THAT partner,,,)or make sex the defining requirement to a good relationship, or even worse, mistake it for LOVE.

I think marriage itself may be on the way out. It certainly is
silly not to have sex until marriage. Great sex is a very important
part of a good marriage and it is natural and healthy to have sex
even for single people.

It is more important to have sex before you get married so you can
have it perfected. I strive for perfection...

One slight flaw with this theory of abstainence till marriage thing.

I don't know ANYONE who is happy to be married. The best I can think of are a pair of couples who are blase' about it. The rest are miserable. This is the EXACT reason I have been invited to swing with many couples. They want sex....just not with the spouse that they don't even want to get naked with. As a matter of fact it is the married ones that are the real freaks. Those are the people that live with an "anything goes" philosophy. When just date humping, a modicum of civil decorum is standard practice.
