First Lady Michelle Obama has called on Congress to create a $400 million-per-year program to encourage the establishment of supermarkets in places she calls “food deserts.”

The situation in these “food deserts,” as Mrs. Obama describes it, is quite dire indeed. American children are growing fat because their parents cannot get to a supermarket — to buy fruits and vegetables — without undergoing the hardship of boarding a bus or riding a taxi.

The "it's all Bush's fault" line has long since worn out it's welcome. The really big turn in this past election was with the independents. The liberals turn a blind eye to all the things Obama promised, but didn't deliver such as transparency in government, back room dealing, serving the people instead of big business and big government, etc., but the independents see right through it.

Sending a check to all the people as if it is a gift is not a fiscally responsible thing to do. IF the spending was done in ways that caused some long term benefit, the voters would not be so angry, but we have little to show for vast debt. Bush spent money on war, and was taken to task for it. Obama has done the same thing but with mostly silence from his supporters.

But in addition to massive expenditures in many areas, Obama has simply wasted many billions (if not trillions) of dollars. The federal payroll is up 10%. This method is the exact opposite of the "working smarter" that he promised.

Even many Democrats are ashamed to be associated with him.
