I'm trying to become a reborn Christian, how do I go about this?

I've accepted God as my only Lord and Savior.

I've accepted him to live through me.

I've accepted to do all things to the glory of God.

I'm enjoying praise & worship music and Christian music.

I attend church

I keep the 10 commandments as well as Jesus's commandments and obey them.

Anything else I'm missing?

Is it wrong to ask God to bless a friendship and to bless it to have it grow to more than friendship?

It is a good thing for you to pray
for the growth of your friendship. :heart:

born again

Regeneration:

(1) The necessity of the new birth
grows out of the incapacity
of the natural man to "see"
or "enter into" the kingdom of God.

However gifted,
moral,
or refined,

the natural man is absolutely blind
to spiritual truth,
and impotent to enter the kingdom;
for he can neither obey, understand,
nor please God
Joh_3:3; Joh_3:5; Joh_3:6; Psa_51:5;
Jer_17:9; Mar_7:21-23; 1Co_2:14;
Rom_8:7; Rom_8:8; Eph_2:3.
Mat_6:33.

(2) The new birth is not
a reformation
of the old nature
Rom_6:6

but a creative act
of the holy Spirit
Joh_3:5; Joh_1:12; Joh_1:13;
2Co_5:17; Eph_2:10; Eph_4:24.

(3) The condition of the new birth
is faith in Christ crucified
Joh_3:14; Joh_3:15; Joh_1:12; Joh_1:13; Gal_3:24.

(4) Through the new birth
the believer becomes a partaker
of the divine nature
and of the life of Christ Himself
Gal_2:20; Eph_2:10; Eph_4:24; Col_1:27;
1Pe_1:23-25; 2Pe_1:4; 1Jo_5:10-12.

John 3:3-8

3, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4, Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is
old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6, That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7, Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

8, The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."

Do you hunger and thirst for God's Righteousness?

If so, you shall be filled.

1 Peter 1:
A Living Hope, and a Sure Salvation

"[1, Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,]
2, Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
3, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6, Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7, That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8, Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9, Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10, Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11, Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12, Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13, Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14, As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15, But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16, Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17, And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18, Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19, But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20, Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22, Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23, Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24, For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25, But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1 Timothy 2:1-5 (King James Version)

1 Timothy 2
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

the 10 commandments pretty much brief up the bibles laws. It's very pleasurable to hear that you've turned your heart over to our father :D. Very good to hear, the only warning i have for you now is prepare yourself for all the blessings, gifts, and love.

personally, i don't think it's wrong to ask God for anything. thing is you don't always know what is good for you when you ask, so you may not get what you think. ask for patience and you will get the most frustrating situations you can imagine. why? to build your patience. it may be better for you to ask for His will to be done in your life. if the friendship you want to blossom is the desire of your heart, then ask, just don't be disappointed if you end up with something better than what you originally wanted.

Being a reborn Christian was a real high for me. I finally found a real friend then. I could talk to Christ about anything and it helped me because it wasn't exactly like talking to myself. Then I got into a relationship and got married with a person. Christ talked me via his word, The Bible. This person actually talked to me in person but with oral speech. Being an introvert I found the new relationship different than the one I had with Christ because she was an extrovert. But when I read about Christ he seemed like an extrovert sometimes but other times he seemed introverted. Then I turned to drugs and found some real introverts. We could really relate. But the drugs turned on me and I found that the drugs weren't a real friend. So then later I turned back to Christ. The high sometimes a little longer; Kind of like creeping weed. But when it hits man can I feel it. It just seems to work better when I put Christ first in my life. I mean he is the best friend I have ever had. Paul said it was better to marry than to burn. With the marriage to Christ I haven't felt the need to burn one in a long time. women on the forums will tell you that communication is important. But trying to burn one with Christ and trying to communicate with him just didn't work for me. It really didn't help with the ex, either. Not that I ever got to burn one with her because she never was into marijuana. Right now having the friendship with Christ and people is working for me. I can turn down drugs but I really don't want to turn down my relationship with the only real living friend that I ever had.:smile: Talking to my deceased wife seem to get like a one way communication. It kind of took me in this continuous loop. It felt like a drug high after a while; Kind of like some bad shake.

act 2:38-39. being born again is not something that you make happen and its not something that happens in your mind. yes you have to make a conscious decission to accept Christ into your life, repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus, but that doesnt stop there. you must wait on the promise of the holy ghost. being born again is actually recieving the spirit of God through the infilling of the holy ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues just like the day of pentecost. you are born of flesh and sin is condemned in the flesh. that which is flesh is flesh and that which is spirit is spirit. following the law of the 10 commandments will not save you. we live by grace and through the rightiousness of Jesus. it is good to follow the law and do good deeds but that wont get you into heaven without his spirit. i dont mean to be long winded but im trying to explain the best way i can for you to understand. we are made rightous through Jesus and not of our own work. when you are born of the spirit then you are born again.

i am so tired of people telling other people that all you need to do is say a quick prayer and ask Jesus to come into your life and somehow you are automatically saved and born again. it doesnt work that way. you really need to be filled with the spirit of God. i hope i dont sound too harsh with my words because i dont intend for it to be that way, its just that i dont want anyone to be confused about Jesus. if you really desire to be born again then im sure you will, God knows your desire more than anyone in this forum. the word of God says that he who hungers for rightousness will be filled. just keep seeking him.

These new believers must
come to the knowledge of the truth,
hearing and learning of faith.

Rom_10:17, So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God.

Gal_3:2, This only would I learn of you,
Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law,
or by the hearing of faith?

Gal_3:5, He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit,
and worketh miracles among you,
doeth he it by the works of the law,
or by the hearing of faith?

6, Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

7, Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

8, I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Let's cut to the chase. What does the Apostle Paul say?

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." [Romans 10:9-10]

" For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." [Ephesians 2:8-9]

yes confession is made unto salvation, but you still need to be born again. you can confess until you are blue in the face and out of breath but if you have not repented and been baptized of the water and spirit then where does that leave you. its not enough just to believe, its what you do with that belief that causes you too repent be baptized and wait on the promise. no we are not saved by our works, but just sitting back believing is not enough, what good is a christian who doesnt act on his faith.

This is a common misconception.

Read Romans 2 and you may find that being "born again" is not a requirement.

Acts 16:29-31
The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household."

romans 2 says nothing about not having to be born again. Jesus did not say or do anything in vain. if he said you must be born again then you must be born again. how can you possibly get around that. it is your choice not to belive your need for rebirth in Christ just as it is for everyone. i feel obligated to tell you that you need to because i have, and i know its real. i have been filled with the holy ghost and have spoken in other tongues when i was once a doubter of it. the infillig of the holy ghost is a feeling and experience like no other. read romans ch.8, the key point is in 8-9. everyone is not a child of God(even though we are made in his image). this thing is spiritual man, you cannot comprehend it with a carnal mind. im not trying to battle wits here(please dont think i am), its just that i know for sure and my soul is confident in it. acts 2:38 explains this same point as does many other scriptures.

the law was fulfilled in Jesus. if you live by the law, you must keep the whole law. how many of us can say that we do that. if you can then you are a liar. Jesus says that everyone has sinned and came short of his glory. "there is none that doeth good, no not one." this is why we have grace through Christ Jesus. it is by his spirit(holy ghost) that we are made righteous. romans ch.3, ch.7, read all of acts ch.2 and pay special attention to verse 1-4. i have experienced this first hand. this is real, this is being born again.

You are supposed to accept Christ Jesus as the only Savior and Lord.

Dodo_David's photo

Trusting in Christ Jesus as being your only Savior and Lord isn't complicated.

When Jesus was crucified, two other men were crucified with Him.
Here is Luke's version of what happened next:
One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"

But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

The amazing thing about this event is that the two other men openly acknowledged Jesus as being the Christ, althought the first didn't understand the need for Jesus to die.

The second man did understand, and he trusted in Jesus enough to ask Jesus to remember him. Jesus responded by telling the second man that he would be in paradise, which is another way of saying that the man would be in Heaven.

The second man illustrated the Gospel message. He openly confessed that he was a sinner, and then turned to Jesus for salvation. Jesus, in turn, declared that the man would have salvation.

As the New Testament declares, believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is how a person becomes born again.
