I don't mean to complain but I just feel like every step I take forward I take 3 steps backwards.

I'm a single mom and I let my friend and her bf stay with me for a month and got nothing in return.
I lend a friend some money knowing I may not see it again. Even though I did get it back.
I try and be friends with my ex and get cut down but he wants the friendship.
I try and make friends and I am naturally outgoing so I get taken advantage of.

How does someone who puts others before them always get the short end of the stick?

You just have to go forward in the manner that seems most natural for you knowing that most people choose to approach life by focusing on their own selfish needs to the exclusion of everyone else. And, no, it doesn't ever get any easier. Best of luck to you.

Just say no. Right from the start. Best way to lose freinds is to loan them money. 2nd best way is to live with them.

Deffinitly have learned some good lessons here but I just wish that for all the good things I do for others something good will happen to me. I know one day it will and I keep looking forward but somedays it's hard.

It is hard, but i ask you please just keep your pretty chin up and looking forward with a smile. There are ALOT of crude people out there, please don't let them get to you. Never hurts anyone to be sweet to one another.

I know this will sound kinda selfish... but you have to take care of yourself first! You already will be selflessly taking care of a child for a 'lifetime'. In order to do that, you have to take care of yourself!

There is nothing wrong with helping out others. But, don't extend yourself so much that you are stressed or put out.

Unless, of course, You go sucker noodling. But then sucker fish don't read. You ever catch a sucker fish with your hands? I think they outlawed noodling around here. I went fishing with my uncle once and I got bored of using the pole. I thought I was doing pretty good just reaching down and pulling the fish with my hands but my uncle told me to throw them back in because sucker fish don't taste good he told me. I was calling them slicky slimies. My uncle thought it was funny. We had a real fun time.

I used to be the same way before until I realized that I was going nowhere fast. I was the one to always help out but I never asked for anything if I needed it. Yeah, it been tough but the tough times will only make me stronger and stronger as the days go by. I help out someone just because I want to help and I know that the days get easier when it goes both ways, I'm looking forward to that. :-)

Quit putting others before yourself. Kick them to the curb if you have to, and stand your ground!!
It does'nt mean to be rude or maen hearted, just stay firm on your principles.
