Where does it say Hebrews are God's FAVORED people? I've never once seen or heard anything of such. Deut.7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. He's referring to the Israelites here. And he clearly says that these people have been chosen by God to be a special people unto God and above all people that are upon the face of the earth. If that's not favortism I don't know what is. Here it is repeated again for good measure. Deut.14:2 for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. In fact, it's no secret that the according to the Bible the nation of Israel is supposed to be the "Bride" of God. Although I confess that it turns out to be a really convoluted marriage. I think when Jesus is crucified God "divorces" Israel. But then later, in Revelations (John's Dream), Jerusalem is made new again and presented as the "New Bride" to God once again. So I guess they get back together at the end of the fairytale and live happily ever after. Rev.21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. There are actually quite a few references to this "Holy Matrimony" between Israel and God throughout the Bible. Definitely the Israelites are placed on a pedestal as "God's Chosen People" (in fact they are portrayed as his WIFE) all throughout this fable. This is a cultural fable. It's a mythology about a culture, not about a God. This is the fable of the God of the Israelites. I'm truly surprised that you aren't aware of this. This is one of those questions that should definitely be on a survey. Every Christian should be fully aware that the Israelites are God's "Chosen" (and thus "Favored" or "Special") people who have been placed on a pedestal above all other nations as descibed in the verses I quoted above. We know this to be true because, "The Bible tells us so!" I really can't believe that as someone who claims to know this story so well, you aren't even aware of this basic foundational tenet. |

We know this to be true because, "The Bible tells us so!" I really can't believe that as someone who claims to know this story so well, you aren't even aware of this basic foundational tenet. Just in case it wasn't noticed There is a terrible misconception by many, if not most Christians, that the Jews of the country called Israel are God's chosen people, and we must never say anything against them; If we do we will be cursed by God, because of what He said to Abraham. "And I will make of thee a great nation and I will bless thee, and will make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing; And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." (Genesis 12:2-3.) That great nation is not the country of Israel or the Jewish people of today. The name, "Israel," was given to Jacob, Abraham's grandson. Jacob's 12 sons were literally the children of Israel. The word Israel in Hebrew means: "He strives with God and prevales." Christians are figuratively or symbolicly the children of Israel. Christians have become children of Israel through Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant. |

Here's the definition for second death second death In a vision of the day of judgement all the dead will rise (Rev. 20: 12) and the wicked will be thrown into the lake of fire (Rev. 20: 14) to suffer their second death. Jesus gave a warning that God has the power to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matt. 10: 28). second death does explain why Jesus has not come back or will never come back ...since Jesus already supposedly died on the cross this would constitute as being his first death...and since he was later supposedly re-introduced back into his physical body he is now alive...and since there are no physical bodies in Heaven then that would mean that Jesus must face a second death to get there .... this second death stuff now places Christianity into a condundrum ...because it suggests that Jesus is the false prophet whose second death will result him to be placed into the lake of fire LoL, that's all twisted up. Second death is as it says if and when God sends both soul and body to hell. if you actually know about your religion then you would know that the point I'm trying to make isn't to twist things...so allow me to explain it to you again ...according to your christian belief there are no physical bodies in Heaven which means one must die from their physical existence here on Earth or wherever in order to enter Heaven according to the bible Jesus died and was resurrected back into his physical body...that means that he would have to die again from his physical body in order to enter Heaven....so either Jesus had to have a second death or he never enter Heaven because he is the false prophet so now all you have to do is explain what happen to his physical body ...according to the bible doesn't matter. The second death is specifically your body and soul being cast into hell. Bottom line, weather someone on earth dies 3 or 4 times. Heck i've been clinically dead for 40 minutes, so guess next time i die on earth will be my second death? NO!! The second death is specifically being cast into hell. that's the fun part....if you can not explain according to the bible what happen to the physical body of Jesus then he didn't die a second death and therefore couldn't enter into Heaven ...that would make him the false prophet that God warn believers about so can you explain what happen to Jesus physical body? ...according to the bible |

That great nation is not the country of Israel or the Jewish people of today. Even if what YOU say is true (which isn't supported by the Bible anyway), that doesn't change a thing. No matter who the "Israelites" are, or were, the God of the Bible most certainly plays "Favorites". It never ceases to amaze me how you "WRITE" your own fables and expect everyone to take YOUR WORD as the word of God, over what the authors of the Bible actually had to say. I think this whole religious proselytizing has gone to your head. This is, in fact, the very danger of proselytizing religions. Instead of accepting what the book actually has to say, you're attempting to SELL "Your Interpretations" as the "Word of God". This is why any dogma that claims to be the "Word of God" is utterly useless, all it serves to do is feed the egos of Paper Popes who lust to be the voice of God. These dogmatic fable that is based on a jealous God who clearly play favorites and hates everyone who refuses to believe in it has been a thorn in the side of humanity for ages. It's really time that we insist that this nonsense stops. Cowboy, you DO NOT speak for God. You want to twist this ancient dogma around to suit your own personal interpretations and desires that ultimately puts down everyone's faith, philosophy, and beliefs, that to not MATCH YOURS. These kinds of selfish egotistical religions are simply harmful and unproductive. Look at how much time you waste in life trying to convince people to believe that our creator is a completely insensitive and unreasonable bully who hates everyone who doesn't agree with YOU. How sick is that? You even reject the views of other "Christians" You say things like, "There is a terrible misconception by many, if not most Christians,... blah blah blah" So here we have a personal proclamation by Cowboy that only HE speaks the truth of God and any other Paper Popes who don't agree with HIS interpretations are Christians who have "Misconceptions". You're going down the same tubes that all Paper Popes fall into. You're attempting to claim that only your interpretations and impressions of this dogma represents "God's True Word" and everyone else (Including other Christians) are mistaken. When does this nonsense stop? And what happens when two or more Paper Popes disagree on the interpretations? All that you are truly "preaching" is that everyone should bow down and worship Cowboy as the only "True Prophetic Paper Pope". Your wisdom trumps the wisdom of all others, whether they be Christians or non-believers. You are a perfect example of why Christianity truly sucks. It only serves to create people like you. People who think that only THEY can speak for God and everyone else is mistaken, confused, and blind. |

I never said such a thing. I didn't say i speak for God, the bible is God's word. Thus only relaying what the word of God says, not in anyway saying i speak for God. ------------------------------------------- But you're not relaying the "Word of God". You're twisting a fable into what you'd like it to be. In fact, the original point being made by me is that these fables contradict themselves. At on point these stories demand that God plays favorites and at another point it claims that God does not play favorites. So the book is inconsistent and contradicts itself no matter who you claim the "favored" people are. So it's a lost cause in any case. You are a perfect example of why atheists truly suck. It only serves to create people like you. I'm not an atheist and have never been an atheist at any point in my entire life. If you don't believe it, fine move on. Nothing personal taken. But no atheists sit and debate over and over. I'm not "debating" anything. I'm simply pointing out all the fallacies that you keep preaching. Besides, your a sales person. You're trying to sell people on this mythology (and in particular on your own personal interpretations of it). I'm pointing out the flaws in your "product". I'm sure you would love for me to go away. That would make it easy for you to sell your wares without having someone point out all the flaws. If there is no God fine, move on. Let us people that believe in the father waste our time. I have never said that there is no God. All I've ever said is that if there is a God it can't be as ignorant and absurd as the ancient Hebrew mythology claims. So we may talk about God, preach if you may to atheists. Just let it roll off your back and move on, we won't hunt you down i promise. I don't even support atheism at all. I personally don't believe that this universe is a freak accident. But I also don't believe that it was created by a sick demented male-chauvinistic pig either. Why stick around causing problems and foul emotions amongst two people debating? What do you gain? As you can see this or that person isn't willing to bend in their beliefs, why not just move on to another and not waste your time with this person that is steadfast? Causing problems for who? I have no foul emotions. Do you? If you're looking for a forum where you're views will be openly accepted try the Christian Forums. Although, by the sounds of the things you say, even many Christians aren't going to accept everything you have to say. You have repeatedly claimed that the doctrine you support does not contain contradictions. I have shown that this is not true on many occasions. You keep making claims, I keep showing how they are false. In fact, I just showed another here. In one part of the Bible it claims that God does not play favorites, and in another part it demands that he does. That's clearly a contradiction right there. I think you're just getting frustrated because I'm always right. As far as God is concerned, I personally believe that God is far above all this petty bickering. I think we'd be far better off if the spiritually-minded people would simply recognize that the Eastern Mystical view of God is the most divine, and also respect the choice of those who choose to not believe in spirituality at all. These religions that demand that God is a jealous male-chauvinistic egotistical pig aren't doing anyone any good. I mean, if you want to believe that "Our Creator" is like that, then by all means do so. But if you're going to try to sell that idea to the masses then sincere and decent people like myself truly need to speak out and point out to the masses just how ungodly and absurd your claims truly are. |

In fact, the original point being made by me is that these fables contradict themselves. At on point these stories demand that God plays favorites and at another point it claims that God does not play favorites. ======================================= You have not shown one contradiction that held it's ground as a contradiction. Every contradiction that has been pointed out has been shown not to be, then you would say something like "well that your belief, or you think you speak for god" ect. -------------------------------------------- But that's not true. Ephesians 6:9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him Deut.7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. Those two claims above are a blatant contradiction to each other. One claims that with God there is no favoritism, the other demands it. It's easy for you to just say, "There is no contradiction", but the facts don't support you opinions. Apparently you're just in denial is all. You've convinced yourself that the Bible must be the infallible word of God. However, you aren't making any headway at all at convincing other people. The above is a blatant contradiction that you have not explained away. One author of the Bible claims that with God there is no favoritism, another author of these stories demands that God plays favorites. That's as blatant as a contradiction can be. |

Still doesn't show favorism. And if you want you can be that people. Let's break it down shall we? Deut.7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth *For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God* ---------------------------------------------------- For you choose follow God's will. =================================================== *The lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth* ---------------------------------------------------- Because you do follow God's will without blemish. You actions make you special to the lord cause you do very well at keeping the law. So to be one of those special people all you have to do is follow the word of God to your best ability, even without blemish if you can achieve as such. |

The explanation that you just gave doesn't solve the problem anyway. It just confesses that God does indeed play favorites toward "believers" over "non-believers".
In fact, it's precisely that kind of thinking that makes it easy for people to have their "Holy Wars" because they simply view the other side as 'non-believers' and therefore God does not "favor" them. This is the foundation of religious bigotry that religions that are based on jealous God's cause. Like I continually say. You have your personal opinions and interpretations and I have mine. Why should I accept your personal opinions and interpretations as the "Word of God"? I see no reason to believe that God "favors" your views. That's a figment of your own imagination. What I see is an ancient fable that contains gross contradictions, and your so-called "explanations" don't even hold water as far as I'm concerned. |

Thus if someone has separated themselves from God, how could their be favourites if they aren't in the same category because they have separated themselves? Sin seperates us from our father. If you seek forgiveness, you will receive it and continue your journey with God. If you don't seek forgiveness you won't receive it obviousely lol cause you didn't seek it in the first place, therefore it's us that separates ourselves from God. |

I asked since no physical bodies are in Heaven and if Jesus didn't die a second death from his physical body...then according to the bible what happen to his physical body ... but Jesus is not the only one who's physical body was taken to heaven. |

but Jesus is not the only one who's physical body was taken to heaven. in mormonism it is called "Translation" in which an alive person is taken to Heaven and "translated" into an immortal human being ..which means one do not have to die a physical death in order to get into Heaven but Jesus did die a physical death on the cross and was resurrected back into his physical body which means he was no longer what would constitute as being a human ..what happen to Jesus falls into the realm of "posession" or "zombieism" in which a spirit is implanted into a dead physical body and it's no longer the person it once were Jesus taught that the way to Heaven was to accept him and by death one could enter Heaven and have eternal life but the fact that other humans went to Heaven without first having to die points to the prospect of Jesus not being truthful |

I have never said that there is no God. All I've ever said is that if there is a God it can't be as ignorant and absurd as the ancient Hebrew mythology claims. Ahhh, but if you claim that you are god, then god is at least as ignorant and absurd as you are.... If you're looking for a forum where you're views will be openly accepted try the Christian Forums. Although, by the sounds of the things you say, even many Christians aren't going to accept everything you have to say.
lol, the same paragraph could be addressed to you, except maybe you need a Moron forum where your ego can be stroked, because we know how much you like mutual stroking. Cowboy has consistently shown that he knows more than you, as well as the ability to adjust his beliefs when new data is introduced. What excuse do you have for denying historical evidence that shows how deluded you truly are? You have repeatedly claimed that the doctrine you support does not contain contradictions. I have shown that this is not true on many occasions.
LOL!, all you have shown is what you think are contradictions. Taking verses out of context, paraphrasing, mistranslations and scribal errors are not contradictions, no matter how ignorant one is. I could tell you where to find a few, but it's satisfying to know that you most likely will never find 'em. You keep making claims, I keep showing how they are false.
So now Abra thinks he's me? That is you making the claims and me proving they are false. What type of la-la land do you live in??? In fact, I just showed another here. In one part of the Bible it claims that God does not play favorites, and in another part it demands that he does.
That's clearly a contradiction right there. Being chosen to preserve and deliver the message does not equate to favoritism. Are you trying to say God never punished the Israelites? What, do you think that you should have been one of the "chosen ones"? I think you're just getting frustrated because I'm always right.
Where do you perform your stand-up routine, cause that has to be the most ludicris statement from you I have ever seen. The few times you have been right has been because you have applied what I have revealed to you. (yes I do read other forums) Senility must have a strong foothold at your house as you seem to "forget" the knowledge within a few days or less. (you still believe the virgin birth crap is a Christian concept?) here is more proof against it... again.... http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt1007.htm As far as God is concerned, I personally believe that God is far above all this petty bickering.
Sincere and decent? How dare you claim to be like decent and sincere humans. I'm offended, really I'm am. I will always stick up for the truth and that is just an outright lie. A sincere and decent human wouldn't lie about another human, let alone lie about a book. I think the main problem you have with the Bible is the high moral standards man is to uphold. Your other problem with it stems from the fact you debate it like you're an atheist. You hold that it is infallible and any error nullifies it. That is not the case, never was, never will be, no matter how much you wish it were true. The Bible clearly states that God is unknowable, yet you continue to try and apply humanistic traits to Him? How silly and absurd, as well as ignorant to the facts. You know, I have a whole list of your claims to debunk, but I think I'll spread them out over several of you fallacious posts, it'll be more fun that way. So please, don't change, keep being an egotistical human who thinks he's always right. I'll be here to slap you back into reality. |

Peter Pan responded: lol, the same paragraph could be addressed to you, except maybe you need a Moron forum where your ego can be stroked, because we know how much you like mutual stroking. Just look at what's happening here. This web site was kind enough to provide the Christians with their very own forum where they can discuss their religious beliefs among themselves without having to argue with non-Christians. Yet what is happening? Christian proselytizers continually come to the General Religious forums to proselytize their religion harass the non-christion and call them "Morons" for not believing that the ancient Hebrews speak for God. Here's what Cowboy had to say: If you don't believe it, fine move on. Nothing personal taken. Move on? What is this? The Crusades all over again? Christians invading the General Religion Forums telling everyone who doesn't believe that the ancient Hebrews speak for God to "Move On"? This is the problem with a totally intolerant proselytizing religion. Anyone who refuses to believe in your religious mythology is a moron, an atheist, etc, etc, etc. It's disgusting. Is Cowboy even speaking in terms of "General Religion"? No he's not. All he ever posts here are comments that demand that the Bible is the infallible word of God and that Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of God who must be recognized as God. Anything else is totally unacceptable to him. He won't consider anything else. He's basically breaking the rules of the General Religion Forum by using them to constantly and relentless proselytize his religion. The Special Rules for the General Religion Forum state: "Also, topics which are designated for response exclusively from one religion or belief system, or which may cause that type of polarization, will be deleted. The concept behind these forums is to encourage anyone to participate and post their opinions and thoughts as long as they are on-topic. Topics which do not adhere to that philosophy will be removed, and the poster may lose his/her posting privileges." Yes Cowboy is telling me that if I don't accept his Biblical Views I should "Move On". And all he's doing is proselytizing Christianity. He totally ignores all of the absurdities and contradictions that are brought up by other people. He simply refuses to acknowledge them, pretends they don't exist, and continues his proselytizing campagine. He's just abusing these forums and using them as a pulpit to preach Christianity. He's clearly not open to any "General Religion" discussions. As far as he's concerned Jesus is the Christ and that's that. There's nothing to discuss. Just accept that Jesus is God or "Move on". There are many topics worthy of discussion in world religions and spiritual philosophies. I have presented very sound evidence of why it makes far more sense that the old fables of the ancient Hebrews are totally ungodly. 1. They support male-chauvinism 2. They support slavery 3. They support bigotry 4. They support violence and bloodshed 5. They contradict the very nature of the God they describe. 6. They contain totally unrealistic stories (like Noah and the Ark) 7. They have their God directing people to mass murder "heathens". The list goes on, and that's just the Old Testament. In the New Testament we have a man who taught moral values that didn't even come close to matching the moral values in the Old Testament. Instead, the teachings of this man match up far better with the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism and the actions of a Bodhisattva. So the idea that Jesus was teaching from this perspective is a very valid idea. I think the Christians don't like this scenario because it make far too much sense, and therefore does indeed pose a genuine potential threat to their current belief that they can trust everything the authors of the New Testament had to say in Jesus' Name. So it's important for people to realize that Jesus did not write the New Testament, nor did he even instruct anyone to write any such documents. The whole entire story is hearsay that wasn't even authorized by the man named Jesus. This is important information that people need to become aware of. It's called "Education and Enlightenment". Something that Christianity, being a product of the Dark Ages, has little or no understanding of. Now, Cowboy would like me to "Move on" from the General Religion Forums because I refuse to accept Christianity on Blind Faith. Peter_Pan just likes to call people "Morons". However, I'm confident that people who read my posts see the wisdom and many years of education behind my words. I'm not preaching blind faith. I'm asking people to take an open-minded intellectual look at an ancient fable that is truly absurd, IMHO. And I'll be the first to confess that all of this is indeed "my opinion and view". But isn't that what the General Religion Forums are all about? Cowboy is just frustrated because I do make so much sense and he knows it. I show the flaws in the ancient Hebrew mythology that he's trying to sell to people in the "Name of God". As long as I have the power of FREE SPEECH I will continue to share the wisdom I have learned. By the way, Peter Pan, are we also supposed to believe that men like Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Carl Sagan and many other great minds of humanity are "Morons"? Everything that I say about the ancient Hebrew mythology is true. It's ungodly, inconsistent, and truly utterly absurd in places. That's my personal view after having been exposed to this religion for 61 years of life. Albert Einstein had this to say about it: "I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbour such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms." (Albert Einstein, obituary in New York Times, 19 April 1955) He also had this to say: "The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism." - (Albert Einstein) So I'm in good company in my views and thus I am not bothered by religious fanatics who call everyone a 'moron' who doesn't buy into their blind faith religion. You people are clearly losing the intellectual debate. When you resort to asking other people to "Move on" and calling them "Morons" it's a clear sign that you recognize the truth they are speaking and that you cannot address these point intellectually. So rather than confess defeat, you attempt to slaughter the character of your "perceived enemy". Christians resorting to their "Crusade" tactics once again. History repeats itself. Just destroy the non-believers, either have them removed physically, or assassinate their character. Today's world has moved into an era of Free Speech and with the advent of the Internet, freedom of speech will soar to an even higher level. These religions that rely on keeping people oppressed through the silencing of the lambs will soon die out and Einstein's vision of a world that moves onto a more philosophically sound spiritual view will finally come to pass. |

And now to address some of your concerns Peter,
I think the main problem you have with the Bible is the high moral standards man is to uphold. Your other problem with it stems from the fact you debate it like you're an atheist. You hold that it is infallible and any error nullifies it. That is not the case, never was, never will be, no matter how much you wish it were true. What you say here is not true. I don't believe that a few errors and contradictions in the Bible is grounds to dismiss the entire fable. However, I do believe that a person needs to at least recognize that these things do exist in plenty. Because if a person is under the false belief that these fables are infallible that already gives them reason to believe that there is something "special" or extraordinary about them. But the fact is, they aren't any different from any of the other man-made fables that were produced from those ancient cultures. They are fully of human errors and inconsistencies just like all fables. So recognizing that they aren't infallible or special in any way is an important first step to begin to view them realistically. The Bible clearly states that God is unknowable, yet you continue to try and apply humanistic traits to Him? How silly and absurd, as well as ignorant to the facts. No, I'm not the one who tries to apply humanistic traits to him. That's done within the fable itself. Just as Albert Einstein had recognized in the quote in my previous post. This fable clearly assigns human traits and weakness to this God. In fact, here's a verse from the Bible I just learned from MiddleEarth yesterday. Exod.32:14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. So here we have the Bible telling us that even God has evil thoughts and that God himself is in need of repentance at times. Thus we have no choice but to conclude that God has human frailties. MiddleEarth had posted a lot of other Bible quotes that speak to the personified character of God as well. So you're just revealing yet another "contradiction" of this fable. You say that this fable claims that God is "unknowable" yet this very same fable continually describes to us what God is like and how he behaves, what he expects from people, what he will do to them if they disobey. That's pretty darn "knowable" for a God who is supposed to be "unknowable". If God were truly "unknowable" then it would be absurd to even speak of a book that is supposedly the "Word of God". In fact, the concept of an "unknowable God" is an Eastern Mystic concept. They don't claim to know God, and they don't claim to have any writings that came from God. They just use logic and reasoning to deduce as much as they can about the human situation in terms of a spiritual picture. So there God is non "personified". And this was also what Albert Einstein was referring to when he spoke of Buddhism being the most spiritual philosophy of all: "The most beautiful and most profound experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling is at the center of true religiousness." ( Albert Einstein - The Merging of Spirit and Science) The Hebrews claimed to speak for God. Well, you can't very well speak for someone you don't know! Christians often claim to "know God" or have a "Personal Walk with God". In fact, they have personified God in the idol of Jesus. This is the extreme opposite of the kind of spirituality that Einstein and the Eastern Mystics speak of. I believe in the truly unknowable God of the Eastern Mystics. I do not believe in the personified god of the Hebrews who has evil thoughts and is himself in need of repentance. The authors of the Bible describe God and his behavior in far too much detail to then try to claim that God is "unknowable". So you've just revealed yet another blatant contradiction in these old fables. |
