I need no explanation of why people feel pride in being american, thats their(your) perogative. There are MANY other free countries and many other countries that are no more or less lovely than this one, in my opinion. this is just where my family has been for generations and where I have my roots and foundation,,,,but none of that has anything to do with my own efforts,,, Really? Like Russia or N. Korea or Iran? ![]() |

obesity has to rank near the top of reasons why health care is expensive.
instead of "reforming" the system start putting parents in jail that allow their kids to sit on their a$$es 12 hours a day playing video games and stuffing their faces with potato chips. at some point there has to be some G%d D*^n accountability in this freaking country.. the people that don't suck off the system are getting fning tired of propping up the people that do. so fning annoying.. |

My parents both worked, I went to school and I still had plenty of time to go outside and ride a bike or do some other form of exercise. Not having any time or supervision isn't going to cut it. This is sickening.. and totally unacceptable. Data from NHANES surveys (1976–1980 and 2003–2006) show that the prevalence of obesity has increased: for children aged 2–5 years, prevalence increased from 5.0% to 12.4%; for those aged 6–11 years, prevalence increased from 6.5% to 17.0%; and for those aged 12–19 years, prevalence increased from 5.0% to 17.6% http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/trends.html |

You also have an increase in those who are fearful enough of nosy enough to call the police anytime they see a child on their own,,,, and therte are ALOT more communities than when I was a child, many which dont have safe places for children to play unsupervised |

If they have to ride the bus 30 miles to go to a YMCA then so be it. these numbers of obese children is ridiculous.. and its criminal in my opinion. |

[size=14=Here's an idea.
Set up Gov. scales near the neighborhood Liquor Stores. When fat-Mama or fat-kid waddles down to get snacks or liquor, make 'em weigh in. If, their body fat is 50 lbs or better over what is healthy for their height, cut the food stamps until they lose it. |
starving doesnt help body fat, only poundage
many people here are MALNOURISHED, leading to weight problems but the answer isnt DELETING nourishment, just making more nourishing choices |
So, the Gov can make food stamps like WIC.
Cover only a specific list of low to no-fat foods. It's easy if they really want the fats gone. No sodas, snack items, ice creams, etc. |

Wic is only a LIMITED and supplemental made specifically for the nutritional needs of children up to age five. Food Stamps are how households purchase groceries for all dependents.
People can balance their food but restricting food hardly ever works,, its called DIETING,,,and its a multi million dollar industry because it doesnt work,, |
