Whoa there Knoxman. What makes you think Tony Romo can beat Bellichick and the New England Patriot defense? Remind me when the last time the Cowboys beat the Patriots again? I believe Aikman was the quarterback.

Eljay and kingbreeze:
Last year, during the regular season, no one gave the Cowboys much chance of beating the Colts. They did 21-14. They won, not because they had the better team(even I wouldn't say the Cowboys,man-for-man,were better than the Colts last year), but because the Cowboys devised a game plan, and everyone managed to stick to it. Mainly eat up the clock and keep Peyton off the field as much as possible. I truly feel Dallas will beat the Pats for the same reason-devise and follow thru on a game plan. It'll be tough-I've never said the Pats weren't a great team. I just feel that this is Dallas's year. GO COWBOYS!!!!!! |

I,m a Cowboys Fan. But I gotta tell you I don,t like the coach.
Wade is living by his daddy,s deeds not his. |

Who is next for the Cowboys?

If Phillips bombs, Redman, they'll most likely promote Jason Garrett to Head Coach. He WAS hired before Phillips. Since new coaches usually hire their own staff, that should tell everybody something. Tells me that Phillips had better hit the ground running, or he's toast within two years.

Knoxman;
Actually - Wade Phillips is a pretty good coach. He turned that San Diego team into a playoff contender (It was his defense). However - he's taking over a Bill Parcels team - and he has a completely different philosophy on defense. Phillips plays the one gap system - whereas Parcels is a 2 gap guy. This is going to make for some rough goings for Dallas in the beginning of the season - since the defense is built around a 2-gap system. The division that Dallas is in - is in the middle of a flux. Philly is getting McNabb back - off of injury. The Giants just lost it's best offensive player - and may lose it's best defernsive player, and Washington has no quarterback. Dallas may win the division by default - unless Donovan comes back on fire. Dallas has no chance in the playoffs though, if they're not playing at home. |

Eljay, good points. I didn't say Phillips was gonna bomb for sure, it's just you never know, situations and all. The NFC East is in something of a down year this season. Washington is paying for Daniel Snyder's stupidity, and the only thing Eli Manning has proven is that he's certainly no Peyton. I've never been all that impressed with McNabb. He seems to be one of those guys that does well until it really counts, then he finds a way to lose. Of course, a lot of things have to happen for Dallas. Romo has to prove he's not a one-hit wonder. The receivers, especially Terrell Owens, needs to step up. They need to utilize Jason Witten as much as possible. The secondary needs to step up and not get burned as often. I truly feel if they can cut down on missed opportunities, they've got just as good a chance as anyone to win the Super Bowl.
P.S.: Eljay, are you a caller to the Jim Rome show? If I'm not mistaken, I've heard someone with that name on several occasions call in to the show. |

Knoxman;
I'm in the Boston area - I don't get Jim Rome. However - I was a regular caller every night with T.J.The Brick back in the late 90's when he was on the Windstar Broadcasting network. He was in Vegas back then. These days I think he's on Fox radio. I was the first one to be the only "pick-six" winner in the country one week back in '97. (I picked the Giants over Dallas - in Dallas and was the only one in the country from his show that did - and they won.) I agree with you about McNabb. Can't win under the pressure of a good defense. He self distructed in the last 5 minutes of the Super Bowl against the Patriots. However - he can be very dangerous - break a takle and throw a miracle pass to win or get back in the game. Just look at the 4th and forever play against Green Bay in the playoffs a couple of years ago. Also Philly plays as a team. They also have an excellant coaching staff. |

Eljay,
JT the Brich is on Fox Sports Radio. Eastern time 10 PM-2AM. I listen to him on my way to work(work starts at 1 AM). Sorry about the Rome mix-up, but belated congrats for winning the pick 6 contest, even if the Cowboys had to lose for you to win . You're right. Teams that truly pull together as a team, such as the Eagles and Pats, are the most dangerous. Dallas won't have it easy this year by any stretch of the imagination. Like I said earlier, Wade Phillips will have to hit the ground running, because Jerry Jones is becoming more and more desperate for a Super Bowl team. You can tell just by the sound of his voice. I heard him on Rome last week, and his expectations for this year are through the roof. No matter how good Phillips is, I've got a feeling that If Dallas isn't at least in the NFC championship game within 2 years, Phillips'll be gone. |

if dallas does,nt win the NFC championship game within 2 years phillips should be gone.
