Welcome to the site!

I don't really qualify as a starving artist, I'm more of a moderately well-fed writer, but there is a sort of a creative aspect to that, too, I suppose....!

And I'm a huge Dr. Who fan, too....!!

Yaaaaay, another Whovian! Which Doctor is your favorite?

And I'm moderately fed, I suppose, I'm not as starving as I was, say, a year ago... *nodnods* But it makes for a wonderful screenname XD

From the "classic" series -- I loved Troughton, he had that whole "cosmic hobo" thing going -- the newer series, I wish Eccleston had hung around a little longer, he seemed to have such a handle on the role -- do you remember the speech he gave in one of his early episodes about feeling the earth moving under him? -- that just hit me -- but Tennant is amazing, too. Haven't seen the new guy yet, as the local PBS is still running through the 2008 episodes --

It amazed me when I found out that Richard Dawkins is married to the second Romana! (Seems like Douglas Adams must have had a hand in that!)

I've been wanting to see the classic DW FOR AGES, but that requires either buying it or getting Netflix (which I can't do with lack of steady income and such), I think I would love to see the other Doctors.

I wasn't as fond of Eccleston, but I think that was because I was exposed to Tennant first for a few episodes (and then my first Eccleston episode was the second gas-mask one, so yeaaaaah...). I'd have to say, Tennant or Smith would have to be my favorite, it's a real toss-up. The first two-three episodes of 11 (Matt Smith), you don't always like him, especially if you're very used to Tennant, which I was (I cried so hard at Tennant's farewell), but after he encountered the ARMY of Weeping Angels (who are one of my top fears now), I found he was really, really growing on me. Amy is definitely my favorite companion, her and Donna Noble.

I'm liking this site, it's not as scary as I kind of thought it would be (I jumped headfirst into this, expecting to be scarred for life... so far, no horror stories XD).

Glad to hear that!

I'm new here too, but it can be entertaining at times. You gotta take the good and ignore the bad (like most forums/message boards)!laugh

Ahhhhhh, yeah, I totally know what you mean (I run a local board for a similar-interest group, and it's our third board, the owners of the last two went rogue and left/kicked us all off and we had to reform new ones). This seems a bit more open than that, and definitely makes me feel welcome... <333 Here's hoping to find someone, for all of us.

It's strange, I've seen almost all of the episodes that still exist (some of the Hartnells and Troughtons were wiped by the BBC and are no longer available), and it's like a completely different show every time they change Doctors. Not that that's a bad thing, necessarily, and they maintain superb continuity through the use of the recurring enemies. I thought the show had pretty much lost direction by the time they ended it in 1989, and the TV movie with McGann was almost blasphemous (indicating the Doctor was half-human....?), but Russell and the crew got in right back on track in 2005.

I wasn't as fond of Eccleston, but I think that was because I was exposed to Tennant first for a few episodes (and then my first Eccleston episode was the second gas-mask one, so yeaaaaah...). I've only seen a few pics of Amy in the Dr. Who Magazine, so I can't really tell yet, but I have a huge crush on Rose Tyler.

It's a good bunch, for the most part. I've been here 3 1/2 years and I feel very much at home. The site's been good to me, and the people here are far better than the ones I know in real life!

I also have to say that this is a real haven for creative types. I have received tons of encouragement on my writing, many of the members here have purchased my books, and they have written some extremely kind reviews! That's one reason I've posted so much of my stuff in the Creative Writing forum.....

Seriously, I've been on many many sites, and this one has always been, and continues to be, the best of the lot....
