Mornin' Ted, Soufie! Ted... PPPOE is the protocol used for establishing an IP address on the outbound connection to the ISP. DHCP is the protocol used for the router to give out addresses to computers and other devices on the internal network. Hope this helps more than it confuses you.

Additional info is always good... ty!! I need to check out my sis's IP and mine... then hammer it out. I just hate getting on her 'puter cause her son has it so loaded down with chit it's about as slow as a commodore 64, haha.

If she's running XP or Windows 7, it would be a good idea to give the kid his own login, so that there is one you can log into that doesn't have all the crapola loaded on it.
