a name is not a screen name...they are two separate things. It would be a lie to agree with you. to not agree with me is to lie to yourself ...a screen name is a fake name it's being dishonest ...it's simply not your real name it's a lie....why does the rules about what a lie is change when one log onto The Internet |

You havent answered anything all youve done is squirm around and call us all "liars" for not posting our real names on the internet...How Duh!  And in doing so, has undermined his own credibility as someone who respects reason...at least to me...jmo. Wow...you mean my credibility is considered undermined by those that believe that a false name on the my Internet is not a lie? ...please......if you choose to give a false name that is your choice....all I'm saying is since it's not your real name then it's a lie ..... as I said "Everyone Lies" in some shape form of fashion....giving false names on the Internet is simply one way people lie .... Hmm. My user name is a song I enjoy. And if asked, I let people know what my name is. So, what's your issue? Sounds to me like you're just trying to find reason to argue. |

The EquusDancer part has everything to do with it especially since you are trying to claim that a screen name isn't a lie ...to place EquusDancer on your driver license or on your government W2 form as being your real name would not only be a lie and dishonest but also a federal offense you may even do prison time unless you can come up with some better excuses as to why you used that "EquusDancer" name then what you have posted here in this thread ... because to say in court that you used the name "EquusDancer" because you Dance with Horses may not provide a good enough defense that would insure that the jury won't convict you of something and at the least it may bring in a verdict of not guilty due to insanity in which you would be dancing with horses at the nearest asylum and because of such legal problems is why a person that was sane or semi-sane would know that a screen name isn't their real name and therefore a lie |

I'm not bothered that people use screen names but since the topic of the thread is about dishonesty probably makes it obvious why I'm would debate that point of view about screen names if a screen names is so far distance than one actual name then what else is not accurate as it was written on the profile |

I was stating that it may be more of a possibility that since one uses a screen name and then finds ways to justify in their minds why it's not a lie then it may be more than unlikely that there may be other things about them that they may portray as being true which aren't, but just like the screen name they finds ways to justify why those untrue things are also not a lie ...I guess it can be refer to as the "screen name defense" ...the politically correct term for it is "a white lie" |

I think we disagree on the purpose of the forums. In the forum rules, you will find them referred to as 'chat topics' not 'debate topics'. well actually you don't chat...you type ... We often degrade our conversations into arguments but its not actually the purpose. We should not be confused if posters do not wish to argue a difference of opinions whether one is "chatting" "debating" or "typing" is generally referred to as being an argument... AOL defines a screen name as an 'online identity' not a 'birth identity'. Therefore, using something other than your birth identity for a screen name is not a lie. sorry but I don't allow AOL which is an internet service to dictate to me what is or isn't a lie or when it's ok to lie An 'email address' is not a 'street address'. That would not be a lie either simply because the word 'address' is contained within the term. an address points to communication or point of origin it's not necessarily a street .....try using a fake e-mail address like you use a fake name as your point of origin and see if you get your e-mail Even in these forum rules, (#8), you are cautioned against using private information. Since all members are accountable to these rules, it would be impossible to consider a name, created for the purpose of an online chat account, a lie. a name is not private information ...as you yourself stated earlier in this thread there are others with the same name as yours |
