it seems they have something else to get their panties in a wad now...
target donated 150,000 dollars to a republican candidate.... i guess guess gays are anti-republican now too.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Protesters have been rallying outside Target Corp. or its stores almost daily since the retailer angered gay rights supporters and progressives by giving money to help a conservative Republican gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota. Liberal groups are pushing to make an example of the company, hoping its woes will deter other businesses from putting their corporate funds into elections.

A national gay rights group is negotiating with Target officials, demanding that the firm balance the scale by making comparable donations to benefit candidates it favors. Meanwhile, the controversy is threatening to complicate Target's business plans in other urban markets. Several city officials in San Francisco, one of the cities where Target hopes to expand, have begun criticizing the company.

so it seems gays can tell companies who to donate money to now too...

Soooo Im sure Republicans dont really care for gays either, but that should have no bearing on this. Im glad that they are winning the rights they are as they should. But dictating policy to the world is another story. If I vote or make a political contribution, its no-ones biz but mine. I think thats an inalienable right for everyone.

thats why they should not give gays extra rights... now they think they can control who votes what, who can give their money to who... give an inch, take a mile. if i was target, i would tell to mind their own business. the gay rights group can donate to whoever the hell they want. like a church group tell us who to vote for.

Just shows their level of 'political astuteness' ... they STILL don't realize that the gayboys like Bawney Fwank and Gerry ('Memorial Blow Dryer') Studds are playin' 'em like a cheap carnival fiddle ... maybe they're waitin' for the 'pubs to pass a law makin' 'pop beads' free in the bath houses ... Once again, it's all about THEM and 'special' - not EQUAL - rights ...Target needs to give 'em each a bucket of sand and directions on where to 'pound' it ... just sayin' ...

I would have to agree...Im trying to imagine what I would do if someone tried to dictate my political beliefs to me...I know it would involve a cast iron frying pan and also upside your head...it wouldnt be pretty.

I got to say this, Gays griping about Target are a minority group and a pack of whining Beyatches!

I protest them for supporting the Democratic (Socialist) party.

Target has every right to make donations to who they see fit.

To the group protesting Target (AND I AM NOT AIMING THIS AT ALL PEOPLE OF THE HOMOSEXUAL PERSUASION OR ANYONE ON THIS SITE!!!! tHIS STATEMENT GOES OUT TO THOSE OF THE GROUP PROTESTING TARGET OVER THEIR CHOICE! You have been warned in case you take offense!)

Welcome to America FAGS where people are free to make choices whether or not you don't like it!!! I bet queers like you would not have said si*t if they made that same contribution to the DNC! This country allows you to choose your sexual orientation so BACK OFF!

I wish I could say that to their faces myself! Is there a way to tell this group exactly what i said becasue I mean it.

That is as queer as a homosexual complaining that the republican party kills children becasue how many of them are parents? its idiots like the group raising the protest that discredit others of the homosexual persuasion. I hope they are aware of how stupid they are looking right about now.

I am getting very tired of all these outspoken minority groups blowing smoke up all of our backsides!

The OP didn't post all of the article. This part explains more about what's going on.

"The flap has revealed new implications of a recent Supreme Court ruling that appeared to benefit corporations by clearing the way for them to spend company funds directly in elections. Companies taking sides in political campaigns risk alienating customers who back other candidates.

Target's $150,000 donation to a business-oriented group supporting Republican Tom Emmer, an outspoken opponent of gay marriage, was one of the first big corporate contributions to become known after the U.S. Supreme Court threw out prohibitions on corporate spending in elections earlier this year."

Well I can understand why they are upset then. However, no-one is able to dictate anothers political leanings. Thats the opposite to a democracy. Didnt they just fight under the banner of equal rights? this is hypocracy. As well as overstepping bounds.

they are overstepping their bounds. they just need to donate to whoever they want. that what politics is, not intimidation factors.

Mightymoe, do you think anyone who boycots a company for any reason is overstepping their bounds? Or just when you disagree with their reasoning?

boycotting is something done when the company actually does something wrong, or unfair. i fail to see how target did anything wrong or unfair. it sounds the the teamster mob leaders tell a company how to run it's business. target has the right to donate as much as they want to anyone they want, as long as it's legal, as do the gays. if i was the ceo of target, i would tell them to get f#^ked.
