Neat! I've never seen those before. It's like Davey and Goliath, or Gumby gone bad!

I know! There's actually a sequel made by a fan. laugh

Just in case this hasn't been posted yet:

Sam Raimi to Direct Day of the Triffids Remake -

According to Deadline Sam Raimi is set to direct the Day of the Triffids remake.

"The film will be produced by Ghost House, the partnership between Mandate, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. The deal is seven-figures and I've heard it's the most that Mandate has paid for a project package. Raimi wants to direct it; the original was one of his favorite films as a boy. Raimi and Tapert will board the producer roster, joining Michael Preger, Angry Films' Don Murphy and Susan Montford, and Mark Gordon, who previously worked with Raimi on A Simple Plan."

Hm. Probably too much to ask for a good adaptation of John Wyndham's novel?
I hope Raimi shows the love for the original source that Jackson showed for The Lord Of The Rings.

I think he wants to do it in 3D.

I would love Raimi to do 3D, not necessarily with this movie, but a movie...only if he uses his camera style from his early films(Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Crimewave)...that rivet gun scene in Darkman is a good example of a scene that would be cool 3D.

I know! I'm actually hoping that someone would make a good zombie film in 3D. Imagine the possibilities! laugh Probably why I got soooo disappointed with My Soul To Take. Seriously, I don't know why they bothered at all with making it a 3D movie.

I loved Piranha 3D, it brought me back to the early 80's 3D craze! Of course James Cameron ripped into it.

The '84 slasher flick Silent Madness I think took great advantage of 3D, sadly it came out when the fad was already over so it didn't make much of an impact.

I have to agree with you on both counts. Have you heard of any 3D upcoming zombie movie projects? I'm quite surprised they haven't used 3D yet. Oh, and I think someone already made a movie out of the Triffids book, am I right?

There's the 1962 film version, and 2 mini-series adaptations.

There's the awful awful awful Night Of The Living Dead 3D that came out in '06.
I'm not sure of any new ones though.

I hope Sam makes his own version based on the book and not the earlier movies, though I have to admit, regardless, Sam directing would make me curious enough to watch it in the cinema. laugh

I don't recall seeing the 3D version of Night of the Living Dead. It must have been REALLY awful for you to say that. laugh

Several times. laugh And for someone who actually adores cheesy low budget films, that must have been scrapin-the-bottom-of-the-barrel kind of awful. laugh

Zombieland Sequel, Zombieland 2 Latest Updates
Posted by: Michael

Zombieland was a fantastic film experience and one of the few good horror comedies to make its way out of the Jaws of Hollywood. The english have Shaun of the Dead as their trophy and now we have Zombieland! As a quick update we already told you some months back that the filmmakers planned to do Zombieland in 3D which for me was a bit of a turn off and that a 2011 release date was planned.

Now comes good news from MTV that the filmmakers are doing it in real 3D and wont be doing it in Post Production like Piranha 3D, Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland did. This is a good thing since for me if its not Real 3-D its just not 3D.

AS far as the story goes Reuben Fleischer told MTV that this film will likely be a prequel and reveal the backstory of the original zombieland movie;

"One of the fun things about 'Zombieland' is it jumps all over the place in terms of the storyline," Fleischer said. "It'll go to before zombies to after zombies and all around those worlds.

What's fun about the sequel is we have freedom and flexibility to show different periods. We might have scenes before the zombies, or we might have some months after, or potentially stuff further down the road. Through the voice-over and the way the movie is structured, we can really explore all different sides of it."

I am not a fan of 3D for me its a gimmick but frankly since they are going to shoot it on 3D cameras I am giving it a chance. The original zombieland was genius and the sequel in 3D could be a really fun experience.

Outcast

It tells the tale of Petronella (a Scottish/Romany girl) and Fergal (her mysterious Irish traveller boyfriend). As their doomed relationship plays out, a Beast stalks the estate, killing locals, working its way towards our protagonists. Meanwhile Cathal and Liam, two mysterious travellers from Ireland use ritual and magic on a blood hunt. Mary, Fergal's mother performs ritual and magic of her own. As Cathal comes face to face with Mary in a vicious finale we know one thing: the Beast must die.

I have not seen it yet, but I have read good reviews. Anybody watched it already?

I haven't seen it, but I want to, I don't think it's been released over here yet.

"The Most Original Horror Since Let The Right One In" Wow, that's not saying much since Let The Right One In is only 6 years old.

Couldn't find any movie links except for trailers so it must be fairly new. All I know is that it's been released and shown at a movie festival. I'll also be looking forward to its local showing here. Here's the trailer:

Maybe you just heard it wrong and they actually said, "...is about the dead". You do have a fake left ear and a half-chewed right ear. laugh

So what are some movies that are inspired by or make references to, but aren't actually adapted from HP Lovecraft?

John Carpenter's In The Mouth Of Madness

The Evil Dead films(the Necronomicon), and Equinox from 1970- it also has young people reading from a book and releasing bad things.

Island Of Fishmen '79 (Shadow Over Innsmouth)

The segment in Creepshow- The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill, this is totally inspired by The Colour Out of Space, which King has mentioned several times is his favorite Lovecraft story.

Cast A Deadly Spell- Fred Ward plays a detective named Harry Philip Lovecraft, and the movie deals with the Necronomicon

Forever Evil, inspired by The Evil Dead, but also makes Lovecraft references(Yog Kothag)

Transylvania Twist, horror spoof, there's a character named Dexter Ward(The Case of Charles Dexter Ward)
